Meet Magazine Luiza
The history of Magazine Luiza began in 1957 when Pelegrino José and Luiza Trajano bought a small gift shop in Franca, in the interior of São Paulo. To choose a name for the store, which is the origin of the Brazilian retail chain Magazine Luiza, a contest was held on a local radio, where customers could submit suggestions.
It is important to remember that the company’s journey is guided by cycles of development. The first began with Luiza Helena, niece of the founders, who took over the leadership of the company in 1991.
Besides the subsequent cycles, which occurred under the leadership of Marcelo Silva and, since 2016, Frederico Trajano. Thus, it is important to note that the company has already gone through cycles of expansion throughout the interior of Brazil.
