Ethanol plant in MS will receive investment of 1 billion
This Friday (30), the governor of MS, Reinaldo Azambuja, alongside the secretary, Jaime Verruck, from Semagro, signed a term of agreement between the State Government and the company, confirming the fiscal incentives foreseen in MS Empreendedor. The ethanol plant, Neomille, is a venture by CerradinhoBio, one of the largest bioenergy producing complexes in Latin America.
In total, R$ 1 billion will be invested in the plant in Maracaju. The plant will bring about 150 direct job opportunities to MS and another 500 indirect jobs with outsourced services. At the peak of the works, around 2 job opportunities in civil construction will be generated. The ethanol plant will be built along the MS-157 highway in an area of 115 hectares.
The annual processing estimate is 1,2 million tons of corn at the end of the entire plant implementation process, and with more than 510 thousand cubic meters/year of ethanol produced. When in operation, it is estimated that the plant will be able to generate 100 Gigawatts of energy and produce corn oil.
Authorities pronounce on the new investment
For secretary Jaime Verruck, corn ethanol will add value to the grain and bring an income to the producers of the raw material. It is necessary to have an expansion in corn production, due to the installation of the new plant and also another one that will be built in Douradas.
According to the CEO of CerradinhoBio, Paulo Motta, the privileged location to obtain the raw material and to distribute the products, in addition to the favorable business environment, were the decisive factors for the company to choose the municipality of MS.
According to the executive, Maracaju is the largest corn producer in the state and has excellent conditions for purchasing biomass and marketing co-products. The unit will bring more opportunities for farmers and livestock businesses, said Motta.
According to the company's schedule, the environmental licensing process will be carried out alongside Imasul over the next few months, with construction of the first phase of the unit expected to begin in March of next year and completion in August 2023.
MS towards sustainability
The CerradinhoBio venture, known as the Greenfield Project, follows international sustainability standards and should reduce its carbon emissions to zero.
According to Semagro's secretary, the project is fully included in its Carbon Neutral State program and was designed to generate less impact on the environment. It is located close to an electric power line, considering that it will produce energy from biomass. To make this possible, the project will use eucalyptus, encouraging the new production chain in the region.
Participating in the ceremony in Maracaju were Infrastructure Secretary Eduardo Riedel, Grain Origination and Agricultural Business manager Eduardo Paiva, CerradinhoBio Director of New Business and Strategic Planning Renato Henrique Pretti and Mayor Marcos Calderan.
