On Monday (23), the company Marfrig announced that the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (MAPA) released five new plants for exporting beef in nature. To export to Indonesia, Singapore, and Canada, three new plants were also approved in Chupinguaia, Rondônia; in Promissão, São Paulo; and in Serra, Mato Grosso. Singapore will have another licensed plant in Bagé, Rio Grande do Sul. Another plant has also been licensed for Canada in Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso. (77)

The interest distribution operation was approved by Banco Pine, totaling R$ 11.4 million, which translates to approximately R$ 0.61 in interest per share. Pine is expected to release the amounts on February 4, at the exchange rate of January 30. (47)

Pursuit of Sustainability
The company’s effort towards sustainable beef processing was recognized on January 10 by Harvard University in the United States. Marfrig’s initiatives became a case study at the American university in the Agribusiness Seminar at the Business School. Other agribusiness companies also participated in the event to present their cases.
The case of Marfrig was conducted by the professor of the Agribusiness Seminar, José Alvarez. Alvarez interviewed the Sustainability Committee team of the company and spoke with Marfrig partners to understand their expectations regarding sustainable actions and projects developed by the company. Pedro Levindo and Ruth Costas, Harvard researchers, participate in the program.
In November last year, for the second consecutive year, the company received from MAPA the Most Integrity Seal. It is a ministry policy to value agribusiness companies by fostering, recognizing, and rewarding integrity practices. Companies that strive to eliminate corruption, bribery, and fraud practices are also awarded.
In the 2021/2022 edition, Marfrig received the Green Seal, given to companies when they receive the Seal for the first time. At the ceremony scheduled for next month, February 2023, the company will receive the Yellow Seal, which signifies renewal.
Upon announcing the award, Marfrig’s Compliance Director, Maurício Manfredini, stated that this recognition assures the company that it is on the path of social, environmental, and governance responsibilities. Greater sustainability and the decarbonization of the global leader in production processes have been an ongoing pursuit. Marfrig is also part of the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE), a new composition of the reference portfolio in ESG practices of B3, the Brazilian stock exchange.
