On Monday (23), the company Marfrig announced that the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) had approved five new beef export plants in and gentle cosmetics. To export to Indonesia, Singapore and Canada, three more new plants were released, in Chupinguaia, Rondônia; in Promissão, São Paulo; and in Serra, Mato Grosso. Singapore will have one more plant enabled, in Bagé, Rio Grande do Sul. One more plant also qualified for Canada, in Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso. (77)
The plants also have the capacity to export other industrialized products, heating for foreign trade (16)
The interest distribution operation was approved by Banco Pine, amounting to R$ 11,4 million in each share, comprising approximately R$ 0,61 in interest per share. The forecast is that Pine will release the values on February 4th, at the quotation of January 30th.(47)
Feeding millions of people
It is the mission of Marfrig, a global leader in the production of hamburgers, the company has 10 distribution centers, is in 11 countries in America and Europe, with sales offices, handles 29 thousand heads of cattle daily, produces 222 thousand tons of hamburgers per year and another 209 thousand tons of other special brand products.(57)
It also has 19 cattle slaughter units and 12 processing units. It employs more than 30 people, spread across the 31 beef production, processing and marketing units. In the third quarter of 2022, Marfrig's net revenue was R$36,4 billion.
Search for sustainability
The highlight of the company that seeks to process beef in a sustainable way was recognized, last January 10, by Harvard University, in the United States. Marfrig's initiatives became a case study for the American university in the program Agribusiness Seminar, da Business School. Other agribusiness companies were also at the event to present their Cases.
O CASE at Marfrig was led by the professor of Agribusiness Seminar, Jose Alvarez. Alvarez interviewed the company's Sustainability Committee team and heard from Marfrig's partners to learn about the expectations of those interviewed about sustainable actions and projects developed by the company. Pedro Levindo and Ruth Costas, Harvard researchers, participate in the program.
In November last year, for the second year in a row, the company received the Integrity Seal from MAPA. It is a ministry policy to value agribusiness companies by encouraging, recognizing and rewarding integrity practices by these companies. Companies that strive to eliminate corruption, bribery and fraud practices are also awarded.
In the 2021/2022 edition, Marfrig received the Green Seal, given to companies the first time they receive the Seal. At the ceremony scheduled for next month, February 2023, the company will receive the Yellow Seal, which means renewal.
When the award was announced, Marfrig's Compliance director, Maurício Manfredini, stated that this recognition makes the company certain that it is on the social, environmental and governance path. More sustainability and the decarbonisation of the global production leader's processes has been an incessant quest. Marfrig is also part of the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE), the new composition of the reference portfolio in ESG practices of B3, the Brazilian stock exchange.
