The Ministry of Education (MEC) has announced the opening of registrations for free English courses in the distance learning modality (EaD). The initiative aims to equip students to communicate about personal information and prepare them for professional activities that require English as a tool for social inclusion, especially in employment and job sectors.
One of the advantages offered in the free distance English courses is the flexibility of schedules, allowing students to adjust their studies according to their needs. Additionally, the courses count as complementary hours for college, adding value to the participants’ resumes.
Free Distance Courses Offered by MEC
In total, six course options are offered in the free distance English courses, each with a specific objective:

Surprising opportunity in the railway sector: MRS offers a free course for assistant train driver and shunter in Juiz de Fora with a R$ 1,600 scholarship, specialized training, and the chance to join one of the largest railway operators in Brazil.

It’s official: IFMS opens spots in free courses on artificial intelligence, drones, and app creation, expanding technological education in 2026 and preparing students for areas with high professional demand and accelerated digital transformation.

Senai launches an unprecedented program with Petrobras and opens 2,000 spots in free courses with recognized certification, a monthly allowance of R$ 600, and training for industrial professions that continue hiring across the country.

Petrobras and SENAI open 480 spots in free technical courses with a scholarship of up to R$ 858, meal allowance, and training in Mechanics, Welding, Metallurgy, and Industrial Automation to meet the growing demand of the industry and the oil and gas sector.
- English 1: Identification and personal characterization; location in time and space.
- English 2: Means of transportation; family; routine and habits – at home.
- English 3: Routine and habits; food and grocery list; clothing.
- English 4: Weather conditions, present simple and present continuous; sports and leisure; likes and preferences; skills; adverbs of manner; parts of the house and furniture, modal verbs can and may; possessive pronouns.
- English 5: Restaurant, food and drinks; health, human body and diseases; places and leisure activities.
- English 6: Adjectives, travel, review of courses 1 to 6.
