The MEC, through the Secretariat of Higher Education (Sesu) and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), announced the second edition of the Higher Education Extension Program in Post-Graduation (Proext-PG).
This program offers a total investment of up to R$ 18.1 million, aimed at funding 191 proposals from higher education institutions. Institutions have until September 9 to submit their projects through the Capes Application System (Sicapes).

Financial Opportunities for Students and Institutions
The Proext-PG provides 311 scholarships, divided into 191 initiation to extension and 120 post-doctorate, with a maximum duration of 24 months.
The initiation scholarships are R$ 700.00 for undergraduate students and can reach R$ 5.2 thousand for post-doctoral researchers. This program aims to promote integration between teaching, research, and extension, focusing on sustainable development and improving quality of life.
Who Can Participate?
The program is open to higher education institutions located in the North, Northeast, and Midwest regions, provided they have at least two active graduate programs (PPG).
For the South and Southeast regions, the requirement is to have at least four active PPGs. In addition to educational institutions, research support foundations, government agencies, and social organizations can also apply, as long as they establish a cooperation agreement to complement the necessary resources.
Results and Expectations
The announcement of the selected projects is scheduled for December 20, with implementation beginning in 2024.
The goal of Proext-PG is to promote the integration of teaching, research, and extension, contributing to sustainable development and the reduction of regional inequalities.
