Historical Evidence
Berosus, a Babylonian historian, wrote that a plague devastated the Assyrian army, while the Greek historian Herodotus stated that rats destroyed the Assyrians’ weapons, leaving them vulnerable. These accounts, although different, corroborate the devastation of Sennacherib’s army described in the Bible.
An inscription carved on the walls of King Sennacherib’s palace was crucial for Compton to begin his research. The engraving depicted the celebration of the conquest of Lachish, a city south of Jerusalem, by the king’s troops. Compton compared this image with features of the current landscape and created a virtual map to the site of the Assyrian camp.
He found similarities between the camps of Lachish and the Hill of Munição. The engraving illustrated the construction of the camp in an oval shape, characteristic of Assyrian camps. The Survey of Palestine investigated a ruin north of Jerusalem, suggesting it was a military camp. However, Roman camps were always rectangular, while the one found was oval, typical of the Assyrians.
Importance of the Discovery
Compton’s discovery sheds new light on the exact location of the camp during the siege of Jerusalem, described in three books of the Bible and portrayed in great works of art. Compton emphasizes that the occupied hill was known as Jebel el Mudawwara, “The Mountain of the Ruler’s Invading Camp,” further corroborating his theory.

O que na verdade não tem nada de mais ja que acampamentos assírios e várias e várias cidades descritas na bíblia existiram,o que vemos é um grande esforço por parte de muitos para tentar comprovar eventos bíblicos, mas sabemos que a bíblia se encontra demasiadamente cheia de paradoxos e conteúdos anticientificos além dos grotescos e enormes erros de biologia,como classificar morcego como ave ,ou coelho como sendo criaturas ruminantes,ou errando e trocando o nome de personagens em diferentes passagens,ou pregando que nossa raça começou através de uma única família (incesto), contudo não possuímos DNA compatíveis, não é refutado o fato de que muitas coisas na bíblia realmente existiram tais como cidades, pessoas,objetos ou acampamentos mais sim a tentativa em querer fazer todos descer por guela a baixo tudo o que esta na bíblia como verdadeiro, sendo que a mesma possui diversos erros científicos, geográficos,de matemática, lógica e contrária muitas vezes até suas próprias doutrinas.
