Despite the curious moment, the autonomous vehicle did exactly what it was supposed to. According to Waymo, the Jaguar I-Pace followed protocol. It pulled over and, after 90 seconds, safely maneuvered out of the blocked lane.
A company spokesperson informed Business Insider that the vehicle diverted on its own, respecting the interaction with the officer.
Rommano, who was using a robot taxi for the first time, told the site that he was impressed with the car’s performance. He praised the autonomous driving and how the incident was handled.
