Stolen Motorcycle In 2016 In Divinópolis Found Intact By The Police. Owner Celebrates Reunion And Calls Episode A Miracle.

An unusual case caught the attention of the Military Police (PM) and the Civil Police of Minas Gerais last Friday (25): a stolen motorcycle in Divinópolis in 2016 was found in perfect condition after eight years missing.

The emotional reunion involved 55-year-old self-employed Valter Diniz de Oliveira, who was surprised with the news that his old vehicle had been found by a laborer in thick brush, in the neighboring municipality of São Sebastião do Oeste, about 40 km from the location of the robbery.

Valter described the moment as a true “miracle.” The motorcycle, which was his main tool for work, was taken during an armed robbery as he was heading to work early in the morning on a rural road.

Robbery Occurred In 2016 In Rural Community Of Divinópolis

The crime took place in December 2016, around 7 a.m., in the rural community of Amadeu Lacerda. Valter was riding alone on the road when he was approached by two criminals on another motorcycle.

“They cornered me on the road. It was 7 a.m. The first time I was robbed. I was paralyzed. I handed over the motorcycle and just asked God to let me go,” recalled the self-employed man.

The stolen motorcycle had been purchased for about R$ 8,000, and was essential for his commuting and livelihood. Without insurance, he had to adapt to the new reality until, months later, he won another vehicle in a raffle held by an electronics distributor. Still, the loss of his property was never completely overcome.

Surprising Location And Preserved Condition Of The Vehicle

The motorcycle was found by a 52-year-old laborer who, while walking through the thick brush in São Sebastião do Oeste, noticed the abandoned vehicle. He immediately contacted the PM, who managed to access the difficult-to-reach location and verified that it was indeed the same vehicle taken in 2016.

What surprised the officers the most was the condition of the stolen motorcycle. Despite being exposed to the elements for so long, the vehicle was practically intact. Identification was made based on the robbery report, and from that, the Civil Police located the owner.

“When they called me I couldn’t believe it. A few days before, I had taken a break to organize my papers and, by luck, I had the robbery report in hand. God was very good to me,” said Valter.

According to the Civil Police, the stolen motorcycle was taken to an accredited yard, where it remains until the legal procedures for its return to the owner are completed. The process includes updating the documentation and a possible inspection.

Valter is already organizing to regularize the documents, perform a mechanical inspection, and start using the vehicle again. It is estimated that, today, the model of the motorcycle could be worth around R$ 13,000 in the market.

Faith And Hope During The Years Of Waiting

Even after so many years without any leads, Valter never lost hope of finding his stolen motorcycle. For him, the return of the property after such a long time is a testament to faith.

“I never lost faith. I always believed that God would not leave me hanging. And here is the proof: after eight years, the motorcycle came back to me. This is a miracle,” he said emotionally.

Happy Ending Inspires And Reinforces The Role Of Security Forces

Cases like that of Valter Diniz demonstrate not only the power of faith and persistence, but also the importance of cooperation between the community and the authorities. The actions of the PM and the monitoring by the Civil Police were crucial for identifying the vehicle and correctly forwarding it for return.

The story of the stolen motorcycle that reappeared intact in Divinópolis is more than a coincidence: it is a reminder that the unexpected can happen — even eight years later.
