The Reduction of the 1.3 Turboflex Engine Power to 176 HP, Adopted Since the 2025 Line to Comply with the Proconve PL8 Standards, Redefines the Performance of the Fiat Toro Ultra 2026 and Becomes One of the Main Points of Technical Analysis of the Top Version with Flex Engine

The Fiat Toro Ultra 2026 maintains the 1.3 Turboflex T270 engine, now with a power output of 176 hp with both gasoline and ethanol, following adjustments made in the 2025 line to meet the Proconve PL8 requirements. This change directly affects the technical positioning of the top-of-the-line version with flex engine of the intermediate pickup.

The Ultra version remains the most complete configuration of the Toro equipped with a flex engine. Even after the visual and equipment update presented in 2025, the mechanical setup stands out for the loss of power compared to previous years, a factor that has become central in the evaluation of the model in 2026.

Environmental Adaptation Explains the Power Reduction

The reduction in the power of the 1.3 Turbo Flex engine is directly linked to the Proconve PL8 emissions standards in effect in Brazil. Fiat retained the T270 engine but adjusted its calibration to meet the required environmental limits, resulting in the current 176 hp for both fuels.

The maximum torque remains at 27.5 kgfm, delivered at 2,000 rpm, with both gasoline and ethanol. Therefore, despite the drop in maximum power, the behavior at low revs continues to be one of the strengths of the mechanical setup, especially for urban use.

Performance Is Adequate, but Lacks Sporty Appeal

With the adjusted engine, the Fiat Toro Ultra 2026 registers acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds, considering the use of the stall. The declared top speed is 197 km/h. The figures place the model within a standard considered sufficient for its purpose, without any sporty pretension.

The six-speed automatic transmission remains the same, contributing to predictable and comfortable driving. The drive is exclusively front-wheel, a common feature in the Toro’s flex versions, while all-wheel drive remains limited to configurations equipped with a diesel engine.

Mechanical Set Prioritizes Urban and Highway Use

The proposal of the Toro Ultra 2026 remains focused on urban and highway use, with an emphasis on comfort and stability. The independent suspension on all four wheels continues as a relevant technical differential compared to competitors that use a rigid rear axle, contributing to better dynamic behavior on uneven surfaces.

The approach angle of 25 degrees and the departure angle of 29 degrees remain unchanged, reinforcing that the model has not undergone structural changes associated with the reduction in engine power. The minimum ground clearance varies between 223 mm with the vehicle empty and 198 mm when loaded.

Consumption Accompanies the Limitations of the Set

The consumption figures released in the test reinforce the profile of the engine after the environmental adjustment. In urban use, the Toro Ultra 2026 records 6.5 km/l with ethanol and 9.4 km/l with gasoline. On highways, the figures rise to 7.8 km/l with ethanol and 10.8 km/l with gasoline.

The data is considered modest for the price range of the model, especially when taking into account the suggested price of R$ 198,490. Consumption ends up being an additional point of attention when analyzed together with the reduction in power.

Equipment Does Not Fully Compensate for the Mechanical Change

Despite the loss of power, Fiat maintained a robust list of equipment in the Ultra version. The interior features a driver’s seat with electric adjustment, leather upholstery with red details, and a dashboard with new finishes that blend rigid plastic and different textures.

The 10-inch multimedia center offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and native navigation. The 7-inch digital panel received new graphics, and the model now includes an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold function, a feature absent in previous versions.

Safety Has Advances, but Remains Incomplete

In the safety package, the Toro Ultra 2026 offers autonomous emergency braking, but it does not include adaptive cruise control or blind spot alert.

The absence of these features weighs even more when associated with the high price and with the engine that lost power due to regulatory issues.

The adoption of disc brakes at the rear, a novelty for the 2026 line, improves the braking setup and meets a long-standing demand for the model, but it does not directly change the performance of the engine adjusted to Proconve PL8.

Positioning Is Pressured by the Price

With a suggested price of R$ 198,490, the Fiat Toro Ultra 2026 begins to compete for attention with entry-level diesel versions of other pickups, which offer all-wheel drive and greater torque.

In this context, the reduction in the power of the flex engine becomes an even more relevant factor in the purchase decision.

The Toro Ultra continues to bet on a sporty visual, urban proposal, and versatility of use, but the 1.3 Turboflex engine adjusted to environmental standards becomes one of the main points of analysis for those evaluating the model in 2026, especially in light of the alternatives available in the market.
