Seeking Even More Sustainable Practices In Your Production Chain And In Your Products, Toyota Will Now Receive Hydrogen From White Martins For The Use Of Renewable Fuel In Its Newest Low-Emission Vehicle
The companies White Martins and Toyota signed a new partnership on Tuesday (05/31) for the supply of hydrogen from the energy company to fuel a automaker vehicle. This is another business from Toyota focused on the use of renewable fuel to reduce emissions of pollutants and further ensures environmental commitment in the company’s portfolio of marketed products.
Toyota’s Hydrogen-Based Vehicle Will Receive Renewable Fuel From White Martins To Ensure More Sustainability And Environmental Commitment
In a scenario of energy transition and an increasingly strong quest for sustainability in the international market, Toyota is now advancing in the search for new alternatives for its products and has announced a partnership with the energy company White Martins.
Now, the automaker will receive hydrogen directly from its partner for use in the Toyota Mirai vehicle, which operates based on a renewable fuel cell and guarantees a strong minimization of environmental impacts with low emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere.

In addition to announcing the partnership, the companies also highlighted that the Toyota Mirai vehicle will showcase its environmental efficiency throughout 2022 in the Sorocaba region in the state of São Paulo. Journalists, representatives from the energy sector, and entrepreneurs seeking to invest in adopting hydrogen as a renewable fuel for various businesses will be present at the presentations.
In this way, both companies will benefit, as there will be publicity for Toyota’s sustainable vehicle while White Martins can reach new customers for hydrogen supply.
White Martins continues to focus on its hydrogen production plan, and the partnership with Toyota is another step in the project. Thus, the president of White Martins, Gilney Bastos, commented on the focus on renewable fuel and stated that “Hydrogen is part of White Martins’ business strategy. Linde, White Martins’ parent company, has over 100 years of experience in hydrogen production, and is also a pioneer in developing technologies for the entire chain. We believe that the product will play a key role in the energy transition to a low-carbon economy.”
Toyota Is Committed To Decarbonization Plan And The Hydrogen Production Scenario In Brazil Is Becoming More Favorable
Despite being a significant undertaking for White Martins, the partnership with Toyota is not its primary focus for hydrogen in the national market. This is because, during 2021, the company had already signed several Memorandums of Understanding with the Pecém Port Complex and the governments of Ceará and Rio Grande do Sul, aiming to conduct future studies for the potential construction of green hydrogen plants in those locations, which have strong renewable fuel production potential.
The state of Rio Grande do Sul accounts for a total of 80% of energy production from renewable sources and still wants to expand those numbers, which is why White Martins’ installation in the region will be essential. Additionally, Ceará is increasingly investing in green hydrogen and is opening doors for new sustainable ventures, such as the energy company’s.
Finally, the automaker Toyota reaffirmed its environmental commitment to decarbonizing its products over the next few years and emphasized that the use of hydrogen in the Toyota Mirai vehicle is just one of the steps toward achieving neutrality in the future.
