The APL Yangshan Ship Is 347 Meters Long, 45.2 Meters Wide, And Can Carry 10,800 TEUs!
The Port of Navegantes received on Monday (11/14) a ship measuring over 347 meters in length and 45.2 meters in width, which is the largest vessel in history to dock at the terminal! The giant APL Yangshan, from the shipping company CMA CGM, originates from Asia and has the capacity to carry 10,800 TEUs (a unit representing a 20-foot container)!
To give you an idea, the length of the ship is equivalent to 73 Ferraris, three Maracanã stadiums, or nine Christ the Redeemer statues!

The giant equivalent to three Maracanã stadiums, takes the route that connects ports in Asia to the east coast of South America. The demand on this route has been growing considerably, being of utmost importance for the development of Santa Catarina.

The APL Yangshan ship makes stops in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Brazilian ports of Santos, Itaguaí, Paranaguá, Itapoá, and Navegantes.
After undocking, the ship continues through Brazil and has one more a confirmed stop in February 2023.
Evolution Basin Needs Upgrades for Larger Ships
The Port of Navegantes has the capacity to maneuver ships up to 350 meters long and 51 meters wide.
To accommodate larger ships, it is necessary to expand the capacity of the Evolution Basin of the Itajaí and Navegantes Port Complex.
So that in the future, the capacity of these ports increases to receive vessels of up to 400 meters in length and 59 meters in width.
