The Vessel, Which Departed from Sweden, Is Headed to Brazil with the New SAAB Gripen NG from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) That Will Strengthen National Air Defense
The new Gripen NG from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) is getting closer to the Brazilian coast. The ship carrying the aircraft is the Elke and left Sweden on the first day of September, with an estimated arrival in Santa Catarina at the port of Navegantes on September 20 at seven in the morning, according to the portal Marine Traffic.

The ship is 138 meters long and is bringing in its cargo hold the military aircraft for the Brazilian Air Force. The fighter is a single-seat model and will have the registration FAB4100 in the FAB.
According to the portal Aeroin, the fighter is being transported by sea due to not yet being certified and lacking a refueling probe, which would hinder the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean.

The saga of the Brazilian Gripen has brought much hope to the FAB in maintaining sovereignty over the airspace and integrating the national territory in light of potential threats from the new global landscape.
With the Gripen NG established, scheduled to occur in 2021, the Brazilian Air Force must defend the 22,000,000 km² of territory with the aim of safeguarding the country’s interests.
Before that happens, as the first Gripen fighter “lands” on Brazilian soil, the FAB’s work will be intense in the complete certification of the device, which will undergo various flight tests in Gavião Peixoto (SP), and in different climates and real combat situations in Brazil, according to the portal DefesaTV.
