GNA, a joint venture between Prumo Logística, BP, and Siemens, conducted the attraction of the FSRU BW MAGNA at the LNG Terminal in the Port of Açu on Friday, June 12th. With cutting-edge technology, the vessel can regasify 21 million m³ of natural gas per day and was built to exclusively serve the plants UTE GNA I (1,338 MW) and UTE GNA II (1,672 MW), along with future expansions. The plants, together with the LNG Terminal, make up the largest Natural Gas Thermoelectric Complex in Latin America, with an installed capacity of 3 GW, and total investments exceeding R$ 8.5 billion.

“The arrival of the FSRU BW MAGNA is one of the major milestones of the GNA project. Once operational, our thermoelectric park will be capable of producing energy equivalent to 17% of Brazil’s natural gas thermal generation, contributing to the security of the National Integrated System. We are very proud of completing this important stage of our project,” says Bernardo Perseke, CEO of GNA.
About GNA
GNA, a joint venture between Prumo Logística, BP, and Siemens, is constructing the largest natural gas thermoelectric park in Latin America at the Port of Açu (RJ). The project includes the implementation of two natural gas power plants (GNA I and GNA II) that, together, will reach 3 GW of installed capacity, as well as a regasification terminal for LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) with a capacity of 21 million cubic meters per day.
