The New Discovery in the USA Drives the Creation of a New Form of Clean Energy Generation and Contributes to the Energy Transition

In what could be a pioneering advancement in the search for sustainable energy sources, scientists at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the United States have revealed an innovative process capable of extracting electric energy directly from the air we breathe. The research, recently reported by the portal Advanced Materials in the USA, highlights the presence of moisture in the air as a vast reservoir of water and clean energy, paving the way for a new form of clean and renewable electric energy generation, according to CNN.

The inspiration for this revolutionary process of electric energy generation in the USA comes from clouds, which are masses of water droplets charged with energy capable of generating electric sparks under specific conditions. By recognizing this natural dynamic, scientists in the USA developed the so-called “Generic Air Generation Effect”, a process aimed at capturing the electricity present in the water droplets in the air.

The key to the success of this method of extracting water from the air for the production of renewable electric energy in the USA lies in the construction of nanopores, tiny openings with diameters smaller than 100 nanometers. These nanopores are like small openings, a thousand times smaller than a human hair, designed to allow the passage of water from the air and facilitate a dynamic exchange of adsorption and desorption. This interaction results in the charging of the surface of the material that houses the nanopores, generating a charge imbalance.

The Equipment Developed by the USA for Capturing Clean Electric Energy Generation

The equipment, developed in the USA, resembling an artificial cloud, can be made from a wide variety of materials. Its function is to provide a continuous and controlled production of clean electric energy. The water molecules, constantly moving within the equipment, sustain the charge imbalance, behaving like a battery that remains operational as long as there is moisture available in the air.

Scientists in the USA describe this idea as simple yet promising. After all, moisture is always present in our atmosphere, providing a source of unlimited electric energy. This approach would address the challenges faced by other clean energy sources, such as wind and solar, which depend on specific weather conditions, like strong winds or intense solar radiation, to generate electricity.

The Reduction of Dependence on Non-Renewable Systems

In addition to its promise as a continuous and reliable energy source, extracting electricity from the air also offers an additional advantage: the reduction of dependence on scarce and non-renewable resources. By harnessing an abundant and accessible resource like atmospheric moisture, we can significantly reduce our environmental footprint and move towards a more sustainable future.

Although still in the experimental phase, this discovery from the USA has the potential to revolutionize the global clean energy industry. Scientists are now dedicated to refining and optimizing this process in order to facilitate its implementation on a commercial scale.
