Strategic Location and Logistics in the Rio–São Paulo Corridor
The Shibata Group stated that it chose Caçapava due to its strategic location among the main road corridors in the state, which, according to the company, allows for reduced logistical costs and travel time.
The city is located between São José dos Campos and Taubaté, with easy access to the Via Dutra, which connects São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro.

According to the group, the proximity to distribution centers and stores of the chain will facilitate supply and allow for greater predictability in deliveries.
The company claims that the project also aims to optimize transportation routes and enhance control over food production and distribution.
Production Focused on Stores in the Paraíba Valley and Alto Tietê
The factory will primarily serve the 32 stores of the Shibata chain in the Paraíba Valley and Alto Tietê.
The new structure is expected to concentrate part of the production of processed foods and private label items.
According to the company, the facility was designed to operate with standardized and scalable processes, allowing adjustments as demand grows.
The group’s management also stated that the project aims to increase production autonomy and reduce dependence on external suppliers in certain categories.
The company did not specify the product portfolio that will be manufactured at the facility.
Job Creation and Professional Training
It is expected that there will be 350 direct job vacancies during the construction phase and throughout the operation of the factory.
Opportunities will be announced through the Worker’s Assistance Post (PAT) in Caçapava.
The agency recommends that interested individuals keep their registration updated and monitor the official announcement channels.
According to the city hall, the hiring will be gradual.
In the initial months, positions related to construction and industrial assembly are expected to be opened.
Subsequently, the opportunities will cover technical, operational, and administrative areas.
The municipal management indicated that it intends to support the group in professional training actions aimed at city residents.

The administration also reported that it is in dialogue with the group regarding access infrastructure, supply, and waste management to ensure integration with local services.
The city hall believes that the project is part of other ongoing investments in the city and should impact the local economy.
According to public authorities, the new unit may stimulate the hiring of suppliers, transporters, and service providers in the region.
Regional Impact and Industrial Expansion
Experts consulted by industry media believe that the establishment of a large factory tends to strengthen the processed food sector in the Paraíba Valley.
The assessment is that the operation can enhance activity in the logistics and industrial chain in the region.
The Retail Trade Union of the Region stated in a note that it is monitoring the expansion of the chain and sees the arrival of the plant as “an indication of industrial growth in the Rio–São Paulo corridor.”
However, the Shibata Group has not disclosed the total investment value.
The company only highlighted that the initiative is part of an expansion plan focused on operational efficiency and increased production capacity.
Timeline Until the Opening in 2026
The timeline anticipates the completion of civil works and equipment installation throughout 2025, with the start of operational testing before the opening in 2026.
The phases include earthworks, construction of warehouses, assembly of production lines, and commissioning of systems.
Hiring is expected to occur in parallel, as construction progresses.
The city hall reported that updates on the project’s progress and the selection processes will be published on the official channels.
The group did not disclose detailed timelines for each stage but confirmed that the schedule may be adjusted as permits and machinery supply progress.
Recruitment and Professional Profiles
The PAT of Caçapava is the official channel for job announcements and advises that interested candidates seek in-person service or access digital means to register.
According to the agency, the opportunities will encompass operational to technical and administrative levels and can be filled by residents of neighboring cities such as Taubaté, Pindamonhangaba, and São José dos Campos.
The city hall emphasizes that the goal is to prioritize local workers, especially in entry-level positions.
The agency also advises candidates to check for technical certifications or vocational courses required for the positions.
