With A 155 Cm³ Single-Cylinder Engine And 15.1 Hp, The New Generation Of The Nmax Invests In Technology, Comfort, And Connectivity To Dominate The European Market In 2026

The Yamaha officially presented the new Nmax 155 Tech Max 2026, the latest evolution of its 155cc scooter. The model arrives in the European market in the first quarter of 2026, focusing on technology and connectivity, elevating the concepts of comfort and performance in the segment.

The standout feature of the scooter is the new YECVT (Yamaha Electric Continuously Variable Transmission), an innovation that promises to deliver a riding experience much closer to that of a traditional motorcycle. In addition to the transmission, the model has gained a color TFT display, Downshift function, and two riding modes: Sport and Town.

According to information from Yamaha Motor Europe, the YECVT technology intelligently adjusts the engine’s response, altering the revs according to the riding style. This innovation makes the scooter more efficient and enjoyable to ride, whether on busy streets or more sporty routes.

Performance: The Same Engine, But With Improved Behavior

Under the seat, the Nmax 155 Tech Max 2026 retains the same engine as the Brazilian version Nmax 160 Connected, a 155 cm³ liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, delivering 15.1 hp at 8,000 rpm and 1.4 kgf.m of torque at 6,500 rpm.

The difference, however, is in the nomenclature. While in Brazil the model is sold as Nmax 160, in Europe Yamaha keeps the name Nmax 155, reflecting the actual engine displacement.

With the new YECVT transmission, the engine’s behavior has been adjusted to adapt to two distinct styles of use. In Sport mode, the revs rise faster, ensuring vigorous responses and intense accelerations—at 60 km/h, the engine operates close to 6,000 rpm. In Town mode, designed for urban traffic, the revs drop to 5,000 rpm, providing smoother and more economical operation.

According to the statement released by the Japanese manufacturer, this difference between riding modes offers better control and economy, as well as making the scooter more versatile for those seeking performance and comfort in their daily lives.

Downshift Function And The New Joy Of Riding

The Downshift function is another innovation that highlights the Nmax 155 Tech Max 2026 within the Yamaha lineup. This technology simulates gear downshifting of a conventional motorcycle, providing quicker accelerations and greater control in corners or downhill.

The feature can be activated in two ways: by pressing the Shift button on the left handle or simply accelerating with more intensity. This causes the engine to react instantly, offering a more dynamic and sporty performance.

According to Yamaha, the Downshift also acts on the engine braking between 60 km/h and 30 km/h, enhancing safety during decelerations and increasing control in heavy traffic. Combined with the Sport and Town modes, the function creates a riding experience close to that of motorcycles with manual transmission, something rare in automatic scooters.

TFT Display And Total Connectivity With The MyRide App

In addition to the new transmission, the Yamaha Nmax 155 Tech Max 2026 has received a 4.2-inch color digital TFT display, a welcome update compared to the blackout LCD screen of the Brazilian version Nmax 160 Connected 2025.

The new display shows information more clearly and allows full integration with the Yamaha MyRide app, providing riding data, routes, notifications, and real-time alerts. This connectivity reinforces the technological nature of the Tech Max line, which positions itself as a premium option in the urban scooter segment.

According to an article published on the Yamaha Motor Europe portal, the brand’s goal is to offer a more connected experience, allowing the rider to monitor the scooter’s performance and maintenance directly from their smartphone.

Design, Comfort, And Differences Between The European And Brazilian Models

In terms of appearance, the differences between the Nmax 155 Tech Max European model and the national version are subtle but noticeable to those who appreciate details. The front optical set has received slight modifications, and the rear shock absorbers now feature gas reservoirs, a solution that improves comfort on uneven surfaces.

In Brazil, the Nmax 160 Connected version continues to use conventional shock absorbers and an LCD display. Nevertheless, the overall design maintains the DNA of the line, with modern fairings, spacious dual seats, and lines that balance sportiness and sophistication.

The Nmax 155 Tech Max 2026 will be offered in Crystal Graphite and Midnight Black colors, with a matte finish and metallic details that enhance its premium appearance. The model is expected to arrive at European dealerships in the first quarter of 2026, although the price has not yet been officially announced.

Arrival In Brazil And Public Expectation

In Brazil, Yamaha has not confirmed whether the new YECVT transmission will be incorporated into the Nmax 160 line. Currently, the scooter sold here uses a conventional automatic CVT transmission, without riding modes or gear simulation.

If the technology reaches the national market, the model promises to redefine the mid-size scooter segment, delivering superior performance and an unprecedented riding experience in the category.

With this, the Nmax 155 Tech Max 2026 reinforces Yamaha’s commitment to innovation and efficiency, maintaining its position as a global reference in premium urban mobility.

The information was officially disclosed by Yamaha and Motoo, based on a launch announcement for the Tech Max 2026 version.
