Ukraine revealed last Friday a new drone rocket locally developed that promises to change the dynamics of the conflict against Russia. Called “Peklo” Hell, in Ukrainian, the device has an estimated range of 700 km, surpassing the range of the ATACMS missiles supplied by the United States.
The presentation of the new drone rocket took place at an official ceremony, attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Manufactured by the state-owned Ukroboronprom, the drone has the potential to hit targets deeper into Russia, a response to Russia’s continued use of long-range missiles.
According to a representative of the manufacturer, the Peklo is capable of reaching speeds of 700 km/h. Although more precise technical details, such as proof of range or action images, have not been released, the Ukrainian Minister of arms production recently stated that the device can be compared to a cruise missile, flying at low altitude to its target.
Some Specifications of the New Drone Rocket from Ukraine
The drone measures just over one meter, equipped with side wings and rear fins, being the second model of this technology presented by Kiev. This innovation demonstrates Ukraine’s effort to balance the forces, as until recently its allies hesitated to authorize the use of Western weapons, such as the ATACMS missiles, to strike inside Russia.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Russia has used thousands of missiles and drones to hit Ukrainian strategic infrastructures. Kiev, in turn, had been adapting local solutions to carry out long-distance attacks, including explosive drones capable of reaching targets at 1,000 km.
Ukrainian Capacity
Zelensky highlighted that Ukraine is working on the development of four types of missiles, although the progress of the program faces challenges due to issues in the global supply chain. Despite the difficulties, advancements with the new drone rocket reinforce Ukraine’s capacity to carry out deeper attacks within Russian territory.
With this new weaponry, Kiev signals its determination to level the playing field in the conflict while continuing to seek innovations to overcome the limitations imposed by war.
