Mini Electric Is Officially Announced By BMW. The Model Will Feature Two Versions: Cooper E And Cooper SE. The More Expensive Version Delivers Up To 400 Km Of Range.
After some data leaked in recent months, the new fully electric Mini Cooper was finally revealed by the German brand BMW, owner of the British brand Mini. The new three-door electric car is based on the Spotlight EV, co-developed by BMW Group and Great Wall Motor (GWM), and will be sold in two versions, namely the Mini Cooper E and Mini Cooper SE.
Mini Cooper SE Delivers 400 Km Of Range
The cheaper version of the electric Mini Cooper features a 181-horsepower electric motor and 29.5 kgfm of torque mounted in the front. Enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds, according to BMW.
The Cooper SE, on the other hand, is the more powerful version of the model, with 214 horsepower and 33.6 kgfm of torque. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h drops to 6.7 seconds.

The Mini Cooper E battery is 40.7 kilowatt-hours, allowing for fast charging in DC of up to 75 kW and provides an estimated range of 305 km in the WLTP cycle.
The Cooper SE features a larger 54.2 kWh battery that supports fast DC charging of 95 kW and provides a calculated range of 402 km.
With a drag coefficient of 0.28 cd, the Mini Electric has black sills that make the vehicle appear closer to the road. Inside, the designers opted for a more minimalist approach.
The Mini Electric dashboard features a round central display of 9.44 inches running the Mini Operating System 9, software based on Android developed in-house by the BMW Group.
Mini Cooper Will Feature Four Trim Options
Below the screen, there is a bar with switches for the parking brake, gear selector, volume control, start/stop button, and more.
In the rear, the trunk provides 200 liters of storage but can be expanded to up to 800 liters by folding down the rear seats. There will be four trim options available, namely the Essential, Favoured, Classic, and JCW, each with various customization options. The Essential Trim, for example, comes with black sports seats.
The production of the Mini Cooper SE is scheduled to begin in China later this year. The model will be shown to the public for the first time this Tuesday (5) at the IAA 2023 in Munich, Germany. The final price of the model has not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer.
Manufacturer Launches Special Edition
In July of this year, BMW launched 25 units to celebrate 25 thousand cars sold. This is the concept and level of exclusivity of the Zesty Yellow 25k Edition of the Mini Cooper, which arrived in Brazil in July.
The first batch of this commemorative edition was delivered to the new car owners throughout the month. Pre-launched in May, the Mini John Cooper Works, Zesty Yellow 25k Edition arrives in Brazil. This limited version was developed to commemorate the milestone of 25,000 units of Mini sold in Brazil since April 2009.
With a limited volume of only 25 units, each Mini Cooper in this edition was sold for R$ 319,990. The brand sold this total of models since April 2009, when it officially began operations here. Filled with unique items, the limited series of the Mini Cooper brings the exclusive Zesty Yellow hue to the body, available for the first time for the Mini John Cooper Works – Hatch 3 doors.
