Jetour G700 Hybrid SUV Crosses 1.4 Km Over The Yangtze River And Arrives On The Market With 1,400 Km Range And 751 Hp; A Milestone In Chinese Engineering.
The world of luxury SUVs has gained a new protagonist that is literally pushing boundaries. The Jetour G700, the new plug-in hybrid SUV from the Chinese brand Jetour, the premium division of Chery Automobile, surprised the planet by achieving an unprecedented feat: crossing the Yangtze River, the largest in China, covering about 1.4 kilometers over the waters. The crossing, which took place on October 16, 2025, was organized as part of the official launch of the model and served to demonstrate the vehicle’s sealing capability, traction, and engineering, an unprecedented milestone in the global automotive industry.
A Feat That Goes Beyond Marketing
The Yangtze River is the longest in Asia, with nearly 6,300 kilometers in length, and is one of the most powerful currents in the world.
The G700 crossing occurred between the Heisha Zhou ferry terminal and the Nanlong terminal, in the city of Wuhu, Anhui province, home of the Chery group. During the event, the SUV maintained an average speed of 7 km/h, facing currents between 5 and 10 km/h, over a journey that lasted about 22 minutes.

New Fiat car replacing the Siena in Brazil has a range of up to 760 km, a trunk capacity of 525 liters, and a reduced price in a surprising campaign that makes the automatic sedan leave Chevrolet’s rival, the Onix Plus, behind among PcD buyers.
The demonstration was not just a simple marketing stunt: the vehicle actually crossed the stretch of the river, partially floating on the water surface, supported by its hermetically sealed structure, elevated suspension system, and smart off-road mode, capable of distributing torque in real-time between the axles.
Chery stated that the event symbolizes “the dominance of Chinese engineering over natural elements,” and the Jetour G700 became the first SUV in the world to cross the Yangtze River.
Cutting-Edge Engineering And Surprising Power
The G700 was built on Jetour’s new modular platform aimed at high-performance hybrid vehicles. It combines a 2.0 turbo gasoline engine with two electric motors, resulting in a combined power of approximately 751 horsepower and torque exceeding 79 kgfm.
The transmission is a hybrid two-speed system, and the system operates on an 800-volt architecture, allowing ultra-fast recharging and high energy efficiency.

The battery is made of lithium iron phosphate (LFP), supplied by CATL, and guarantees a purely electric range of about 150 kilometers. Combined with the combustion engine, the total range reaches 1,400 kilometers with a full tank and battery — a figure that places the G700 among the longest-range hybrids in the world.
In addition, the SUV features intelligent all-wheel drive, dynamic torque control, electronic differential locking, and nine driving modes, including specific options for snow, mud, and water crossing.
The pneumatic suspension system automatically adjusts the vehicle’s height, allowing a crossing depth of up to 97 centimeters — something that puts it on par with legendary utility vehicles like the Land Rover Defender and the Mercedes G-Class.
Dimensions And Comfort Of A House On Wheels
The Jetour G700 also impresses with its size and interior comfort. It measures 5.19 meters in length, 2.05 meters in width, and 1.96 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.87 meters.
The interior space is worthy of a limousine, accommodating five or six occupants, depending on the version.

The interior features luxurious finishes with materials such as Nappa leather, brushed aluminum, and natural wood, in addition to a set of three panoramic digital screens, high-fidelity 3D sound system, and an AI-powered voice assistant.
The vehicle also includes adaptive cruise control, 360º view, quad-zone air conditioning, and seats with heating, ventilation, and massage.
The Crossing Of The Yangtze: Symbol Of Chinese Progress
The feat accomplished by the Jetour G700 was not just a display of technological strength — it was a demonstration of national ambition.
The crossing of the largest river in China with a domestically produced vehicle had a profound symbolic significance: representing the advancement of Chinese engineering over Western luxury and innovation standards.
The event was broadcast live on Chinese social media and followed by engineers, journalists, and local authorities. According to experts, the test also served to validate the durability of the vehicle’s electrical and sealing systems, essential for international certifications.
The Future Of Jetour And The Global Challenge
The G700 is the first model in the Zongheng series, the line that will mark Jetour’s entry into the global luxury and high-performance SUV segment.
The model is expected to start selling in China in 2025, with prices starting at US$ 46,000, and there is anticipation for exports to the Middle East and Europe in 2026.
The brand aims to compete directly with Land Rover, Jeep, and Toyota, offering elite performance, robust design, and record range. Although the G700 has been introduced as a plug-in hybrid vehicle, Jetour has already confirmed that it is working on a fully electric version, expected in 2027, with power exceeding 800 hp.
The Jetour G700 symbolizes the new moment of the Chinese automotive industry. In a single launch, the hybrid SUV managed to combine 1,400 km range, 751 hp power, intelligent all-wheel drive, and unprecedented water resistance, crowned with a historic crossing over the Yangtze River.
More than just a car, the model is a declaration: China does not just want to compete in the global automotive market — it wants to lead it. The G700 represents this leap, showing that the future of premium SUVs may literally come from the other side of the world.
