Grok, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, gets its own free app available for iPhone
The artificial intelligence revolution continues in full swing with the launch of Grok's own app, the AI chatbot developed by xAI, a startup led by Elon Musk.
Now, users have direct access to the tool, which promises to compete directly with popular platforms such as Chat GPT. Initially available only for iPhones, the app is already making a big impact in the digital universe.
What is Grok and how does it work?
Grok is a chatbot that operates with the generative model Grok 2, launched in August 2024. The tool offers several functionalities, including answering questions, reviewing texts, analyzing documents and creating images from textual descriptions.

This technology was already integrated into X (formerly known as Twitter), which also belongs to Elon Musk and is now accessible through a dedicated app.
Since December 2024, Grok’s app has been undergoing testing with a limited group of users. These tests coincided with the launch of a free version of AI on X, allowing the platform to expand its reach and attract more people interested in exploring AI.
Grok AI app accessibility and limitations
The Grok app is free and available exclusively on the App Store, requiring users to have an iPhone to access it. The AI is available at the following link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/grok/id6670324846
Login can be done via Apple, Google, personal email or X profile accounts. In the free version, there are limitations: users can make up to 10 requests every two hours and perform three image or document analyses per day.
It has not yet been confirmed whether X Premium subscribers will have additional benefits in the Grok app, as is the case with the integration within X. However, the proposal is to make AI accessible to a wider audience, allowing everyone to experience its functionalities, even if in a limited way.
Grok app highlights and news
The app also features a “fun mode”, where answers are given in a more relaxed manner, expanding the appeal to different user profiles.
Despite this, the tool has also faced criticism recently due to its lack of moral filters, which has raised concerns about the safety of its use.
To use Grok, simply access the X app or the web version and look for the [/] icon in the taskbar. The user experience is intuitive, similar to other AI assistants, with a box for entering questions and a paperclip icon for attaching files.
The launch of Grok's own app marks another step in Elon Musk's strategy to democratize access to artificial intelligence.
With advanced features and a user-friendly interface, it promises to establish itself as an indispensable tool for millions of people. It remains to be seen whether future updates and expansions will make the application even more accessible and powerful.
