The Brazilian market has seen cars that arrived timidly, disappeared quickly and, years later, re-emerged as “forbidden finds” among enthusiasts of well-built machines. The Suzuki Kizashi is exactly that case: a sophisticated, robust and extremely competent Japanese sedan that went almost unnoticed during its brief stint in the country, from 2011 to 2013, but has now become one of the most sought-after models by those who know engineering, comfort and true handling.

If there were justice in the national automotive market, the Kizashi would have been a direct competitor to the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and even to mid-range Germans, such as the Audi A4 and BMW Series 3. However, it arrived in Brazil at the wrong time, with very little advertising, a price too high for the brand and a limited dealership network. The result: few units sold and a silent disappearance. But this very disappearance has transformed it into something even more valuable — a rarity with Japanese pedigree.

2.4 Liter Engine with 185 HP: Smooth, Powerful and with a Premium Car Feel

The heart of the Kizashi is one of its most striking points. The 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine with 185 HP (J24B), known for revving high, providing linear torque and lasting hundreds of thousands of kilometers without fatigue, gives the sedan a continuous and refined sense of power, very different from the 2.0 naturally aspirated engines of its time.

It’s an engine that revs freely, responds with quickness and does not require complex maintenance. Owners report high mileage without chronic leaks, electronic failures or premature wear — something rare in sedans that tried to compete in this segment.

AWD: The Differential That No Rival Offered

While most mid-size and large sedans sold in Brazil utilize front-wheel drive, the Suzuki Kizashi came with real AWD, featuring intelligent torque distribution and sporty behavior in curves. It is a system focused on stability, safety and fun behind the wheel.

On rainy days, winding roads or at higher speeds, the car demonstrates a level of control and firmness that recalls much more expensive German models. The combination of AWD with the 2.4-liter engine has transformed the Kizashi into an extremely balanced car — a sedan that inspires confidence and delivers much more than it promises on paper.

Another aspect that makes the Kizashi a hidden gem is its multilink rear suspension, something that few mid-sized cars offered at the time. The system absorbs imperfections without jolts, keeps the car planted to the ground and works in harmony with the all-wheel drive.

The result is a sedan with a smooth ride in urban areas, yet firm and precise in curves, exactly the kind of behavior enthusiasts seek and that is rarely found in cars of the same price range.

Interior Worthy of a Higher Category and Rare Equipment

Inside, the Kizashi delivers what few remember: premium finish, quality leather seats, well-assembled dashboard, exemplary ergonomics and features that at the time were considered luxurious such as keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, steering wheel controls and above-average sound system.

Many owners claim that the car has aged better than more famous competitors. The cabin remains quiet, the materials do not dry out easily, and the car maintains the feeling of a “serious sedan,” built to last.

Why It Became a Rare Find and Why So Many People Want One Today

Very few units were sold in Brazil. Very few. This turned the Suzuki Kizashi into a car that almost never appears in classifieds, and when it does, it disappears quickly.

The reasons for this late popularity are clear:

• it is extremely robust
• it has pure Japanese engineering
• it offers real AWD
• it has better dynamic behavior than many modern sedans
• it delivers a premium feel for the price of a common car
• it does not suffer from chronic issues
• mechanical parts are compatible with other Suzuki models and easy to import

Today, it is a car for those who understand. For those who want a rare, well-built machine that delivers more than any technical specification would dare anticipate.

The Kizashi “died too soon” in the Brazilian market, but has been reborn as one of the most interesting used cars for those seeking exclusivity, stability, reliability and a driving experience that few sedans can match.
