With the progress of the railroad to the Port of Pecém, representatives of Pernambuco are deeply disturbed by the decision of the Ministry of Infrastructure
The political and economic forces of Pernambuco are deeply disturbed by the decision of the Ministry of Infrastructure due to the fact that the works of the Transnordestina Railway will continue only with the branch that reaches the Port of Pecém, leaving the branch to the Port of Suape in the background. Since the decision was announced by minister Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, on July 21, Pernambuco's political and business elites began to butt heads and exchange accusations. Section will only be delivered to the Port of Pecém, in the state of Ceará
Although there is still no official pronouncement from the federal government regarding the construction of the Transnordestina railroad, the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio de Freitas, announced in an interview with Valor Econômico, recently granted, that the route will only be delivered to the Port of Pecém , In Ceara. According to Freitas, there would be no feasibility for the works of the two stretches and, because of this, only one should be built.
The statement by the Minister of Infrastructure has heated up debates and raised questions about the motivations for choosing the stretch in Ceará. Politicians and public officials have struggled to draw public attention to the imbroglio surrounding the controversial railroad.

The Transnordestina railroad project
The Transnordestina railroad is not a railroad project for Suape or Pecém. The concession was made almost 26 years ago and we still don't have a work built. In his conception, Transnordestina is a work of regional integration. Therefore, it is not a work from Ceará or Pernambuco.
It is a work that integrates the various production and logistics chains, consequently. The railroad was not designed to solve Suape's economic problem or Pecém's economic problem, but rather to integrate the Northeast and, from there, integrate the region with other production chains.

The state government of Mato Grosso announced a public call for the construction of a state railroad to connect the capital Cuiabá to the municipalities of Rondonópolis, Nova Mutum and Lucas do Rio Verde, cities in the interior of the state. The project's route is 730 km, an investment estimated at R$ 12 billion over 45 years of operation, and could generate around 235 new jobs for the state.
The new railroad that will connect Cuiabá to Rondonópolis, as well as Rondonópolis to Nova Mutum and Lucas do Rio Verde, in addition to connecting with the national rail network, will have an investment of R$ 12 billion. According to the state of Mato Grosso, the investment will generate more than 235 jobs, in addition to boosting the economy. The start of the work will be 6 months after the presentation of the environmental licensing, which will be borne in part by the government of Mato Grosso and the other part by the company that wins the public call for the railroad. The works should start at the end of 2022.
According to the governor, the railroad is important for grain output and for connecting industry and commerce in Mato Grosso with the national market. Governor Mauro Mendes says that “the food industry, ethanol, will pass through this railroad. And they have all the legal security to do so, and in a few years they will hear the train whistle from here in Cuiabá to the mid-north”.
