Government of SP Prepares a Large Infrastructure Plan to Transform the Baixada Santista with Over 3 Thousand Job Openings and Billions in Investments.

The government of São Paulo announced that more than 3,400 job openings will be generated in the Baixada Santista, a region of the São Paulo coast, through the program SP pra Toda Obra.

The project, which aims to carry out various roadway works in the region, promises to boost the local job market and assist in improving the infrastructure of the roads, with positive impacts on mobility and safety on the roads.

According to information from G1, the expectation is that by December 2026, a total of 3,407 job positions will be created, with 107 openings being directly generated by the Department of Highways (DER), while the remaining 3,300 vacancies will come through the concessionaires responsible for managing the highways in Baixada Santista.

These companies, which operate under the supervision of the State Transportation Agency (Artesp), play a fundamental role in the project, executing and monitoring the works in partnership with the state government.

The SP pra Toda Obra program aims to transform the infrastructure of the state of São Paulo, with an investment of R$ 329 million in Baixada Santista, allocated to 71 roadway works.

The planned interventions include paving of roads, duplication of highways, repaving of roads, in addition to improvements in intersections, junctions, and public lighting.

These works aim not only to increase road safety but also to improve vehicle traffic, contributing to the urban mobility of the region.

Furthermore, the interventions are expected to bring a positive impact on the local economy, generating direct and indirect jobs, as well as fostering the development of sectors such as commerce and services.

Investments in Infrastructure: A Step Toward Regional Development

According to data from the state government, the SP pra Toda Obra program has already accumulated over R$ 30 billion in investments in various regions of the state of São Paulo.

The goal is to generate up to 252 thousand job positions throughout the São Paulo territory by 2026.

The road works are one of the main pillars of this process, as an efficient infrastructure is essential for the economic and social development of any region.

Baixada Santista, which includes important municipalities such as Santos, São Vicente, Praia Grande, among others, stands out for its strategic relevance, both for tourism and for commerce and the transport of goods.

The Port of Santos, considered the largest in Brazil, is one of the largest contributors to the movement of cargo in the country and a vital engine for the São Paulo economy.

The Generation of Jobs and Opportunities for the Population

One of the great promises of the program is the creation of new job opportunities for the population of Baixada Santista.

The job openings cover a variety of positions in technical and operational areas, ensuring the engagement of workers with different professional profiles.

Among the vacancies generated, there are positions for heavy machinery operators, field engineers, surveyors, electricians, drivers, and professionals specialized in earthworks.

The governor Tarcísio de Freitas highlighted the importance of generating quality jobs.

“When we announce investments, we read that as ‘jobs’, ‘opportunities’,” he stated.

He also emphasized that behind every work, there are stories of people who will take on essential roles, such as excavator operators, earthworks supervisors, and many other important positions for the execution of the projects.

“Talking about investment in works is talking about prosperity,” added the governor.

The Economic and Social Impact of the Works

In addition to job creation, infrastructure works have a direct impact on the quality of life of the population.

Improvements in the highways and reductions in travel times can contribute to a decrease in logistical costs in cities, facilitating the distribution of goods, which benefits both merchants and consumers.

However, the SP pra Toda Obra program is not limited to the execution of physical works.

The initiative is also expected to generate benefits for the environment, with the implementation of measures aimed at the preservation of green areas, control of pollutant gas emissions, and ensuring safety on the roads.

The road modernization actions seek to reduce the environmental impact of the works and increase sustainability in the process of construction and maintenance of the highways.

Additionally, the program goes beyond the construction of new highways and improvements to existing ones, with the implementation of new drainage systems, smart signaling, and investments in sustainable mobility, such as promoting the use of public transport and increasing safety for cyclists and pedestrians in urban areas.

The Future of the Works and the Role of the Concessionaires

The highway concessionaires, in addition to carrying out the works, will also be responsible for the continuous maintenance of the infrastructures after the completion of the interventions.

This ensures that the investments made by the government and private companies provide lasting benefits to the population of Baixada Santista.

The partnership between the state government and the concessionaires seeks to combine the best of both sides: public resources with the expertise of the companies that manage the highways.

Road works can be seen as a model of how the private sector and public power can work together to generate positive results for the economy and citizens.

The future of Baixada Santista looks promising with these investments, but what do you think about the planned works? What other areas do you believe need more attention on the São Paulo coast? Share your opinion in the comments!
