Major UK Player to Gather Seismic Data from Campos, Espírito Santo, and Santos Basins for Petrobras from the Island Pride Ship
One of the largest companies in its category in the UK, Ocean Infinity, has secured a deal to provide high-resolution hydrographic mapping services for the Brazilian state company Petrobras. Under the agreement, signed by Cepemais, Ocean Infinity’s local partner, data will be collected for the Campos, Espírito Santo, and Santos Basins along the coast of Brazil.
Ocean Infinity and its offshore consulting partner will map an area of 5,000 square kilometers and inspect 12,000 kilometers of pipelines.
Operating from Ocean Infinity’s Island Pride ship, the company’s autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) will be working at water depths ranging from 50 to 3,000 meters.

The AUVs are equipped with a side-scan sonar, a multi-beam echosounder, a sub-bottom profiler, an HD camera, a conductivity/temperature/depth sensor, a self-compensating magnetometer, a synthetic aperture sonar, and a turbidity sensor.
The data collected by Ocean Infinity will then be interpreted and reported by Cepemais.
The work will take place in the middle of this year, and the contract duration is three years.
The transaction value was not disclosed.
“Working on a project of this scale is a clear endorsement of our technology and highlights how the oil and gas industry recognizes that, through the deployment of multiple AUVs, we can deliver the highest quality data safely, quickly, and cost-effectively,” said Ocean Infinity’s CEO, Oliver Plunkett.
