For the economist José Kobori, the USA gained a trump card to “blackmail” Brazil and undermine China’s influence by classifying the PCC and Comando Vermelho as terrorists, increasing the power to pressure companies, banks, and even Pix.
According to information from the Fuel Union of Bahia, the refinery raised the price of gasoline sold to distributors by R$ 0.20. Thus, the transfer to the final consumer becomes even greater with this adjustment.
This is not the first time fuel prices have increased in the state of Bahia in 2023. Since March 1st, the price of gasoline has risen by R$ 0.47, but without Acelen’s impact on these numbers.
This increase was related to the resumption of federal taxes on fuels, a decision made by the Lula government as a means of monetary collection.
The current president highlighted this as the main measure to minimize the monetary deficit of the Union in 2023. However, the final consumer suffers from high prices for gasoline at fuel stations.
In Addition to Increases in Gasoline and Diesel Prices, the Fuel Union of Bahia Warns of a R$ 0.06 Increase in the State’s ICMS
The high prices of products at fuel stations in Bahia are reflections of a series of decisions made in the oil and gas sector in recent months.
In addition to the resumption of federal taxes on gasoline and the increase in transfer prices from Acelen to distributors, the Union of Bahia warns of other factors that have contributed to the current scenario.
Among these is the R$ 0.06 increase in the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) in Bahia.
The state of Bahia suffered from charges of R$ 8 per liter of gasoline at fuel stations in 2022. Now, the union fears the return of this scenario over the coming months.
In a statement, Acelen reported that high prices for gasoline and diesel are also reflections of the policies in the oil and natural gas sector.
