Drivers are using the “ghost license plate” to bypass speed cameras and avoid traffic fines! Discover how this technology works, the risks involved and the severe penalties for anyone caught. Authorities are on high alert. Will this fraud prevail?

In the world of traffic violations, the creativity of offenders knows no limits. A new and dangerous trick is gaining popularity among drivers who seek to escape fines: the ghost board.

This illegal device, which can be easily purchased on the internet, allows vehicle license plates to become illegible for inspection radars and monitoring cameras. But what are the real consequences and how are authorities facing this threat?

What is the Ghost Plate?

The ghost license plate is a technology that allows, with a simple touch of a remote control, to obscure the vehicle's rear license plate, making it invisible to electronic inspection systems.

This mechanism involves a special sticker, superimposed on the characters on the plate, which is activated by an electronic device. According to experts, the use of this device is extremely dangerous and illegal., violating several traffic rules and putting public safety at risk.

This device is sold on several websites, especially on Asian e-commerce platforms and specialized forums. These devices vary in price, with some simpler models costing around R$150,00 to R$200,00, while more sophisticated options can exceed R$500,00.

Legal Implications and Consequences

Using a ghost plate is a serious criminal act. According to Article 230 of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), driving a vehicle with unobservable license plates is a very serious offense. Penalties include:

  • Significant fine of R$293,47
  • 7 points on the National Driving License (CNH)
  • Possible imprisonment of up to 8 years, depending on the severity of the case

According to current legislation, these measures seek to curb the practice and severely punish offenders, ensuring traffic safety.

How Are Authorities Fighting Ghost License Plates?

Traffic authorities are not standing idly by in the face of this new threat. According to recent information, several actions are being implemented to combat the use of ghost license plates, including:

  • Intensification of inspections and updates to surveillance equipment, aiming to detect and intercept vehicles equipped with illegal devices.
  • Awareness campaigns to alert the population about the serious legal and public safety consequences.

The collaboration of the population is essential in this effort. Complaints and information that can help identify and punish offenders are essential to strengthen the authorities' action.

Illusory Advantage, Real Risk

Despite trying to escape traffic fines, the ghost plate scam carries serious and real risks. In addition to legal penalties, there are several flaws associated with the device:

  • Technical failures: The device may be defective, leaving the plate visible at inopportune times.
  • Modern radars: Some radars can capture images even with the plate darkened.
  • Overt inspection: Trained traffic officers can identify irregularities on the sign, even without the aid of radars.

In this sense, it is understood that the best way to avoid problems is not to purchase the device and report any store or website that sells it. According to guidance from traffic safety experts, driving responsibly and within the law is essential to avoid fines, seizures and legal complications.
