Wind farms become a priority in the projects of the Ministry of Mines and Energy

Wind farm in Serra de Seridó, state of Paraíba, owned by the company EDF Renewables was defined by the Ministry of Mines and Energy as a priority investment and independent energy producer with the installation of six wind farms that foresee the generation of 190,6 MW of power at the plants, with around 62 wind turbines. Work on the wind farm is expected to start in 2023 and be completed in 2024.

In addition, the plants obtained exemption from PIS/PASEP and Confins charges of R$ 71,4 million, through the approval of the project with the Special Regime for Infrastructure Development (Reidi), with this, the total contribution to the wind farm reached around R$ 806,6 million.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy also assigned Neoenergia, approving five more wind farms in the Oitis Complex, in the cities of Dom Inocêncio and Casa Novas, both in the State of Piauí. The forecast is that the plants will generate, together, about 242 MW, with the 44 generating units. The project, which intends to be completed by the end of 2022, will raise BRL 1,3 billion in resources and already has around BRL 134,5 million also approved by Reidi.

In addition to the investments mentioned above, the MME also approved other projects. In the municipality of Tanque Novo, in Bahia, which foresees the generation of around 5,3 MW with an investment of R$ 91,5 million. In the State of Rio Grande do Norte, with the Serrado do Mel II photovoltaic plant, with 20 MW of power through 20 new photovoltaic modules and an investment of R$ 67,6 million.

Finally, and also in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in the municipality of Pedro Avelino, the MME and Reidi approved the Monte Verde VI wind power plant, for a total of R$ 230,5 million, without charges. The plant will have eleven wind turbines, which together have the capacity to generate 46,2 MW of power.
