Petrobras Announces Maintenance Shutdown at Replan Refinery; About 1,200 Contract Workers Will Provide Services.

Petrobras reported on this day 19 that the Paulínia refinery (Replan), the state-owned company’s largest refining unit in oil processing capacity, will enter a maintenance shutdown starting this Monday. Last Monday, the maintenance shutdown at the Reduc refinery in Duque de Caxias began, where 2,400 jobs will be generated.

The shutdown is planned, and about 1,200 contract workers will provide maintenance services over the next 36 days. Replan is responsible for processing approximately 20% of the country’s oil.

According to a press release, there will be no compromise to market supply, which will be fulfilled by products from other company refineries during this period.

“Maintenance shutdowns aim to maintain the safety and operational reliability of the refinery, restore operational capabilities, and promote improvements in its facilities,” stated Petrobras in the release.

The Paulínia refinery (Replan) will receive R$ 393 million in investments for the operational safety of its units this year.

Maintenance Shutdowns Conducted at the Paulínia Refinery

Five maintenance shutdowns have already been conducted at the plant in 2019. About 2,300 workers were hired by service provider companies to carry out the work at the refinery between March and June.

The maintenance activities were performed on diesel and gasoline treatment units, hydrogen generation, gasoline production, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The Refinery of Paulínia is the largest refining unit of Petrobras, with the capacity to process 69 million liters of oil daily, and among its main products are gasoline, diesel, cooking gas, and aviation kerosene.

After the significant natural gas discovery in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin, the first Permanent Offering Cycle of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin is attracting the attention of the consortium formed by oil companies ExxonMobil (50%), Enauta (30%), and Murphy Oil (20%) along with Petrobras.
