Itaboraí Awaits Economic Turnaround with the Activation of GasLub Facility, Formerly Comperj, Bringing Hope for Jobs to Workers in the Gas and Oil Sector
The Brazilian oil giant Petrobras informed the market yesterday that it received authorization from the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) for the operational testing of natural gas entry at the GasLub Facility in Itaboraí on December 10. The tests of the systems that will use natural gas for steam and energy generation will begin after this phase.

The water treatment station, the substations responsible for distributing electricity to the project, the Integrated Control Center (CIC), the auxiliary utility systems, and the flare, where hydrocarbons are burned for relief, are already operational.
The Integrated Project Route 3 will transport and process 21 million cubic meters per day of natural gas from the pre-salt field in the Santos Basin and involves the construction of the Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN), the pipelines, and utility systems. Its commercial operation is expected to start in 2022.

The hope has not left the hearts of the workers. With the activities at the GasLub Facility (formerly Comperj), Itaboraí holds hope for economic recovery, a new moment that involves the support of Governor Cláudio Castro, who has been in talks with Mayor Marcelo Delaroli.
The Brazilian oil giant Petrobras has committed to investing R$ 13.7 million over two years for six projects, focusing on education in the state of Rio. The results of the selection include initiatives supported by the State Law of Incentive for Sports and Culture of Rio (State Law No. 8.266/2018).
