Petrobras Will Anticipate the Start of FPSO Maria Quitéria’s Operation to the Last Quarter of 2024, One Year Ahead of Schedule. This Platform Promises to Significantly Increase Oil and Gas Production, Boosting the Local and National Economy and Job Creation.
On last Thursday, (06/19), Petrobras, under the new management of President Magda Chambriard, announced an important achievement for the Brazilian energy sector: the anticipation of production in the Jubarte field, in Espírito Santo. FPSO Maria Quitéria, initially expected to operate only in 2025, will have its first oil extracted already in the last quarter of 2024, a milestone for the company and for the state of Espírito Santo.
Petrobras Surprises and Accelerates Installation of FPSO Maria Quitéria for 2024
This strategic decision, aligned with Petrobras’ Strategic Planning 2024–2028, demonstrates the company’s commitment to optimizing production and contributing to the socioeconomic development of the country.
FPSO Maria Quitéria, with a production capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil and the ability to process 5 million cubic meters of gas per day, will be essential to boost oil production in the region.

New Milestone in the Exploration of the Jubarte Field
Located in the pre-salt layer of the Campos Basin, the Jubarte field is part of the Parque das Baleias area, which also includes the fields of Baleia Anã, Cachalote, Caxaréu, Pirambú, and Mangangá.
The potential of Parque das Baleias is significant, with the first field, Jubarte, discovered in 2001.
In 2019, an agreement between Petrobras and the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) extended the concession of the area until 2056, enabling the implementation of the new production system of the Integrated Project of Parque das Baleias, including FPSO Maria Quitéria and other complementary projects.
The anticipation of production in FPSO Maria Quitéria represents an important step for Petrobras in its goal to increase operational efficiency and create value for its shareholders and Brazilian society.
The project also contributes to strengthening the economy of Espírito Santo, generating jobs and income, and promoting local development.
