Petrobras Applied This Week for an Installation License at the Brazilian Institute of Environment (Ibama) for the Búzios 5 Platform

This week, Petrobras announced that it has applied for a license at Ibama (Brazilian Institute of Environment) for the installation of the Búzios 5 platform, which will go to the Campos Basin in the pre-salt.

According to Petrobras, in the annual report published, the unit is currently at 10% of physical progress completed. The construction of the ship is being carried out by the Japanese multinational Modec, which has a 21-year contract with Petrobras to operate the asset.

In honor of the commander who led the victorious Brazilian naval force in 1865 at the Naval Battle of Riachuelo in the Paraná River, the FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) will be named FPSO Almirante Barroso.

The new platform will be capable of processing 150,000 barrels of oil per day and 212 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. It is expected that its first production will take place in 2022. With this project, five FPSOs have been implemented in the Búzios field.
