Pre-salt accounts for 79,8% of national production in March, with emphasis on the Santos Basin and Petrobras' performance.
Oil and natural gas production in Brazil's pre-salt layer broke a record in March of this year. According to the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), 3,716 million barrels of oil equivalent were produced per day. This represents 79,8% of the country's total production in the period.
Concentrated progress in the Santos Basin
This impressive result is mainly due to extraction in the Santos Basin. This is the region where the largest volumes produced are concentrated. The ANP highlighted that technological and operational advances in the sector helped to achieve the new mark.
The Tupi field led as the country's largest producer. It produced an average of 780 barrels of oil per day and 39,15 million cubic meters of natural gas. This performance reinforces the importance of pre-salt in the national energy matrix.

Mero platforms stand out
Among the platforms, two stood out. FPSO Sepetiba had the largest oil production, with 174,5 thousand barrels per day. FPSO Guanabara led in natural gas production, with 11,5 million cubic meters per day. Both operate in the Mero field.
Another relevant fact was the use of natural gas, which reached 96,5% of the total produced. This resulted in 46,95 million cubic meters per day made available to the market.
Petrobras maintains leadership
Petrobras remains the main operator, responsible for 90,2% of national production. The state-owned company operates alone or in a consortium. In March, total Brazilian production came from 6.466 wells, 528 of which were offshore and 5.938 onshore.
