Now It’s Harder to Escape Traffic Tickets on Brazilian Highways! The Federal Highway Police (PRF) Has Started to Use Drones for Ticketing, Reinforcing Supervision with Advanced Technology on the Roads. The Measure Aims to Reduce Traffic Violations and Increase Safety on Federal Highways.
With the new system, the PRF uses drones equipped with high-resolution cameras, capable of identifying violations such as dangerous overtaking, using a cellphone while driving, and even heavy vehicles traveling in the left lane. This drone surveillance allows for detailed images to be captured, facilitating the issuance of tickets without needing to approach the driver at the time of the violation.
The drones are positioned at strategic points along the highways, operating between 10 and 20 meters high, ensuring discretion and efficiency in enforcement.
PRF Uses Drones and Increases Safety on Highways
One of the main objectives of implementing this drone surveillance is to enhance safety on the highways by reducing accidents caused by irresponsible behavior. The PRF believes that, in addition to issuing fines, the system will also have a preventive role, encouraging drivers to adopt more conscientious behaviors on the road.
