Details about the Distance Specialization in Deaf Education
The National Institute of Deaf Education (INES) has just opened applications for its selection process, which offers a specialization in Deaf Education from a Bilingual Perspective, fully online (EAD).
There are 150 places distributed across 13 centers in different regions of Brazil, with a projected start date in the first semester of 2025.
According to INES, the course has a total workload of 400 hours, spread over 18 months.
The places are intended for professionals with higher education in the areas of education, psychology, speech therapy, and other related fields.
Furthermore, 50% of the places are reserved for deaf candidates, while the other 50% are for hearing individuals, a measure that promotes inclusion and equity in training.
The teaching centers are located in the following institutions:

- Federal University of Bahia (11 places)
- Federal University of Ceará (11 places)

Who can apply?
According to the announcement, the target audience is professionals with a complete higher education, accepting training in various fields such as education, teaching degrees, psychology, communication, and others.
The goal is to prepare these professionals to work directly in deaf education, using the bilingual perspective, which includes both Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) and Portuguese.
The requirements for application include:
- Having completed a higher education course at an institution recognized in Brazil, according to the Guidelines and Bases Law (Law No. 9,394/1996);
- Or, if studied at a foreign institution, the diploma must be validated by a public institution in Brazil, following the rules of Article 48 of the LDB.
How to Apply to INES
Applications are open until November 1, 2024. To ensure your participation, simply access the official INES page and follow the steps to complete the application process. The selection will occur in two main stages:
- Classifying Stage: a review of the candidates’ resumes and professional experience will be conducted, which will determine the order of the applicants.
- Eliminatory Stage: there will be a verification of the documents required by Articles 4 and 9 of the announcement. Candidates who do not present the documents in accordance with the requirements will have their applications denied.
The final result will be announced on November 12, 2024, and the approved candidates will have the chance to start the specialization in early 2025.
