The Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC) launched Public Notice 16/2024 for the selection process of the Professional Qualification in Languages, offering an unmissable opportunity for those seeking professional training. These courses are free, with spots distributed across various campuses. The selection of candidates will be made through a public electronic lottery, ensuring equal chances for all applicants.
Objective of the Free Course and Course Load
The professional qualification courses aim to prepare students for the job market, focusing on the development of linguistic skills. Offered in a face-to-face format, the courses have a variable course load, depending on the level and language chosen, ranging from 40 to 160 hours. Activities include theoretical classes, seminars, placement tests, and conversation practice.
Available Spots and Offering Locations
The public notice includes spots distributed across different campuses of IFSC, such as Florianópolis, Lages, Garopaba, Tubarão, and Xanxerê. Each course has a specific number of spots, such as the Spanish Conversation course with 20 spots and the English Level 1 course with 25 spots.

Selection Processes
The selection for the free course will be conducted through a public electronic lottery, ensuring impartiality. The lottery will be broadcast live on IFSC’s YouTube channel. After the lottery, the list of approved candidates will be published on the IFSC portal, along with the call for selected students for enrollment. The spots include quotas for affirmative actions, such as candidates from public schools and people with disabilities.
Requirements for Enrollment
To participate in the selection process, the candidate must have the minimum required education for the course, which can range from elementary to complete high school. Additionally, internet access is required to complete the enrollment, as the process will be entirely online. In some higher-level courses, a placement test will be necessary.
