The Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) has released the notice for the free specialization course in public management, offered in the online format (EAD). There are 150 places available in five teaching centers in the state of Paraíba, with classes scheduled to start in February 2025.
This lato sensu specialization, part of the Open University of Brazil (UAB) system and financed by CAPES and certified by MEC, offers free and excellent education. It is a unique opportunity for professionals who wish to improve their skills in public administration. Registration will open on December 11, 2024.
What is the purpose of the free course and how does it work?
The free, online course (EAD) focuses primarily on training public, social and private managers, preparing them to face challenges in public administration with innovation, collaborative practices and a focus on results.

The course will last 18 months and will have a workload of 360 hours. It will be conducted in theoretical and practical modules. Students will participate in forums, seminars and online activities, in addition to developing research projects relevant to the area of public management. At the end, those who pass will receive a certificate recognized by the MEC, which will open doors to the job market.
What are the hubs and distribution of vacancies?
As 150 vacancies of the free and online course (EAD) are divided between the following poles:
- João Pessoa: 40 vacancies
- Campina Grande: 35 vacancies
- Count: 25 vacancies
- Two Roads: 25 vacancies
- Mamanguape Cuité: 25 vacancies
Half of the vacancies are reserved for civil servants in active service. The remainder includes other professionals and affirmative action candidates, such as black people, indigenous people, quilombolas, people with disabilities and traditional communities.
How does the selection process work?
Get a certificate from the MEC! The selection process for the free online course (EAD) will be carried out in two stages: curriculum analysis and evaluation of the research project. The selection will consider criteria such as academic background, professional experience and quality of the submitted project.
Candidates enrolled in affirmative action programs must submit supporting documents, such as an ethnic-racial self-declaration or medical report. Final grades will be calculated based on the curriculum analysis (50%) and the research project (50%).
Who can enroll in the course and obtain a MEC certificate?
The specialization is intended for professionals with a degree recognized by the MEC. It is necessary to have access to the internet, basic computer knowledge and availability to carry out the proposed activities.
