Located in Itaiópolis, Santa Catarina, Nidec’s New Production Line Will Receive Million-Dollar Investment, Generating Many Jobs
Nidec Global Appliance (formerly Embraco) announced investments for a new production line at its factory in Itaiópolis, Santa Catarina. A total of approximately R$ 10 million will be invested in the company’s factory, which could increase the unit’s capacity by 25%. Many jobs are expected with the investments.

Investments in the New Manufacturing Line in Itaiópolis, Santa Catarina
The investments made by the multinational in the northern part of Santa Catarina will be used to implement a new condensing unit, sealing unit, and component production line, which will increase the total production capacity of the unit by 25%, generating over 100 new jobs.
At the factory, located in the northern part of Santa Catarina, the production of condensing devices and sealing devices – complete refrigeration systems including compressors, condensers, expansion devices, evaporators, and refrigerant feed – are ready to be installed in commercial refrigeration equipment.

The portfolio includes energy-efficient products that can meet commercial applications of small, medium, and large scale, from beverage coolers, displays, to refrigerated storage.
New Job Opportunities at the Factory
The implementation will require the construction of a new 700-square-meter warehouse in Santa Catarina to provide additional storage areas and allow adjustments in the internal layout of the new production line. Land regularization works have been completed, and the construction of the warehouse began in May, which could generate over 100 new direct job opportunities.
The refrigeration solutions produced by the factory primarily serve the Brazilian market but also cater to Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia.
Nidec Had Announced Investment for a New Production Line in Joinville
Nidec previously announced an investment in the implementation of a new production line with an annual production capacity of 2.5 million compressors. The company’s new project will receive investments of R$ 100 million, with the launch of the new production line scheduled for the second half of this year. 200 new job positions are expected in Joinville, Santa Catarina.
With the new production line, the capacity of the unit in Santa Catarina will increase by 17%. Currently, the production capacity of the Joinville factory is about 17 million compressors annually, which will increase to 20 million.
The company’s new investments will also result in new job opportunities. Joinville houses Nidec Global Appliance’s largest compressor factory, derived from the Embraco brand. Despite the new investment, the company had already invested approximately R$ 200 million in three subsidiaries in the state of Santa Catarina since 2019.
