Huawei and GAC Launch Hyptec A800 Sedan with 1,200 km of Range, Hybrid Engine, and World Record for Six-Meter Front Headlight.
China continues to lead the electric car revolution. Proof of this is the new sedan presented by Huawei in partnership with GAC. The model, named GAC Hyptec A800, comes with a promised range of 1,200 km and has an interesting distinction: a world record in automotive design. The launch positions the vehicle as a direct rival to giants like Xiaomi SU7, Tesla Model S, and Denza Z9GT, the luxury brand of BYD.
The joint venture between Huawei and GAC was created in 2023 and already shows global ambitions. Chinese media indicates that the car could arrive in Europe in the coming years.
The automaker’s plan also includes launching an SUV with a range of 750 km this year, targeting Tesla’s market directly.

The New World Record
The competition among Chinese brands is not limited to just range. Now, the GAC Hyptec A800 claims an unusual title: that of the longest front headlight in the automotive industry.
With 5.3 meters in length, 1.96 meters in width, and 1.5 meters in height, the sedan features a continuous light strip that spans the entire front and extends to the fenders.
In total, there are six meters of light, an unprecedented mark in the industry. This detail sets the vehicle apart and reinforces the search for aesthetic and technological innovation.
Mechanics with Range Extender
Unlike some fully electric competitors, the Hyptec A800 will be an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle), also known as REEV. In this format, the car combines electric battery with a combustion engine that acts as a range extender.
According to data sent to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT), the sedan will have a 1.5T gasoline engine with 158 hp as a generator.
The top speed is expected to reach 185 km/h. This setup ensures balanced performance and extended range, without solely relying on the battery.
Reference in the Hyper Line
To better understand the potential, just look at another model from the same family.
The SUV Hyper HL, launched in April, uses the same 1.5T engine and adds an electric motor of 250 kW/430 hp to the rear wheels. With a 60 kWh battery, the vehicle offers 350 km of electric range.
Additionally, it has a 53-liter tank, allowing for a total range of 1,200 km. Therefore, experts believe that the new sedan will follow the same logic, delivering equivalent performance and range numbers.
Huawei’s Global Bet
The GAC Hyptec A800 positions itself as the centerpiece of Huawei’s strategy in the automotive sector.
The company aims not only to compete with Xiaomi, Tesla, and BYD, but also to create a unique identity focused on innovation.
Combining bold design, hybrid electric mechanics, and world records, the model promises to shake up the market in the coming years.
The arrival in the West still depends on strategic decisions, but expectations are that the joint venture will make progress in that direction soon.
