After more than a year testing the Samsung Bespoke AI WD20D three times a week, the specialist from the Harpyja channel, who has evaluated washers for over 10 years, claims that there is no competitor of similar quality in the Brazilian market.
The announcement that the Samsung WD20D is the best washer and dryer in Brazil came from those who make this type of comparison week after week. The Harpyja channel, a reference in technical evaluation of appliances, spent a year using the machine in daily life and listed the reasons. The star is the heat pump technology in drying, which consumes up to 75% less energy than traditional washer and dryers. To dry five kilograms of clothes, the model uses about R$ 1 of energy, while condensation competitors can reach R$ 4.
The machine combines records of capacity with technical refinement that Brazilians were not yet accustomed to seeing in a home laundry. The drum has a diameter of 58 cm and a depth of 56 cm, the largest among residential products on the market. It washes up to 20 kg and dries up to 15 kg per cycle. A king-size comforter fits entirely without being compressed.
How does the heat pump work that reduces consumption by 75%?

The technology is the same that equips split air conditioners, but applied to drying clothes.

China builds in the desert the world’s tallest sand and gravel dam, a giant 247 meters high, the height of an 80-story building, pouring enough material to fill 7,560 Olympic swimming pools and investing around R$ 6.2 billion to tame 1.1 billion m³ of water in Xinjiang.
The system heats the air that passes through the drum to about 60°C, evaporates the moisture from the items, and then condenses this water on the other side of the pump. The air returns dry and warm, completing the circuit.
In practice, the Samsung WD20D dries at about 45°C, well below the 80°C that conventional dryers reach.
The low temperature protects fabrics, reduces shrinkage, and eliminates the need for water for the drying stage, unlike condensation washer and dryers, which consume liters in this process. A typical drying cycle takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, according to the Harpyja channel’s test.
What makes it the best washer and dryer in the Brazilian market?

The entire drum is stainless steel, with three textured plastic paddles. Access is through a round door with a diameter of over 37 cm.
Being a tilting machine, gravity does the work of friction on the clothes, and the empty internal space allows for proper movement even with heavy loads.
When washing 5 kg of clothes on the normal cycle, the consumption is around 76 liters. Less than half of what a top-loading washer uses for the same amount.
The panel is a 7-inch Android tablet with WiFi, Bluetooth, Spotify, YouTube, and Bixby assistant. Two automatic dispensers store liquid detergent and fabric softener for up to 25 washes. The unit doses about 22 ml per cycle.
Why is installation still the weak point in Brazil?
The Samsung WD20D requires two water inlets. One cold and one hot. Most Brazilian laundries have only one faucet, and the product does not come with a Y adapter in the kit.
Without both connections plugged in, the machine returns an error and does not work, which forces the consumer to buy an extra plumbing part.
The network pressure also needs to be above 10 kPa. Older properties with low pressure may have problems. Weight is another obstacle. The machine weighs over 120 kg, is 111 cm tall, and its width passes through 70 cm doors.
The price has dropped by half since its launch and is already listed for R$ 8,499 in marketplaces like Amazon and Magazine Luiza.
The combination of a giant drum, heat pump, and tablet panel places the Samsung WD20D at a level that Brazilian brands have not yet reached.
And you, have you considered investing in a washer and dryer with a heat pump, or do you prefer to wait for the price to drop further? Let us know in the comments if the 75% savings on energy would justify the current price.
