Santander’s free online Spanish course offers 1,000 spots, six months of classes, and access without college requirements, aimed at those looking to expand their linguistic repertoire and strengthen professional opportunities in an increasingly connected market.

Santander, in partnership with Open Mundo, has opened 1,000 spots for the free online course Santander | Español Online 2026, offered by the Santander Open Academy platform to people interested in learning or improving their Spanish.

The course lasts six months, is conducted online, and does not require a university degree or prior affiliation with the bank.

Registrations for this edition were announced by Santander’s own advisory. The initiative is part of the bank’s strategy to expand access to free courses focused on professional development and employability.

The program’s proposal is to cater to students, workers, and other interested individuals seeking fluency in a language relevant to academic, corporate, and international environments.

According to Santander Open Academy, the platform’s courses and content are free and can be accessed even by those who are not bank clients.

Free Spanish course features online classes and native teachers

The Santander | Español Online 2026 course is structured to allow participants to study Spanish from day one, with classes conducted by native teachers.

The course covers different levels of knowledge, allowing entry for both beginners and those with partial command of the language.

Selected candidates can choose between beginner, pre-intermediate, intermediate, or advanced levels, according to their own learning profile.

According to Santander, the Open Mundo track follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, an international standard used to classify language competencies.

The organization states that the offered levels can take the student up to C1, a stage considered advanced in the European standard.

This alignment helps participants to gauge their progress in the language and to understand more clearly which skills they need to develop throughout the course.

In addition to regular classes, the program includes four private online classes per month, aimed at improving pronunciation, gaining confidence, and using common expressions in Spanish.

The official description refers to these activities as private classes, not as mentoring, although the goal is to offer more individualized support.

Spanish training aims to enhance qualifications for the global market

The offering comes in a context of increased demand for professional qualifications and language proficiency in the job market.

For Santander, learning another language can expand career opportunities and prepare professionals for increasingly internationally connected work relationships.

“Learning or seeking more knowledge in another language enables expanding professional opportunities and preparing people for an increasingly competitive, connected, and global job market,” said Carolina Learth, senior head of Global Platforms at Santander.

In the same statement, the executive said that the bank’s proposal is to contribute to professional growth through the democratization of access to education.

The statement reinforces the initiative’s positioning as a free training program, aimed at people seeking new skills without incurring tuition fees.

The online format extends the course’s reach, as it eliminates the need for travel and allows participation from people in different regions.

The Santander Open Academy platform states that it offers courses, content, and scholarships at no cost, focusing on learning and professional development.

Who can participate in Santander Español Online 2026

Participation in the course is not restricted to university students, making the training accessible to candidates with different educational backgrounds.

According to the program page, it is not necessary to have a college degree or be a Santander Bank client to apply for the vacancies.

The platform also states that the Santander Open Academy is open to people 16 years or older, upon registration.

This rule broadens access for young people in academic and professional preparation phases, as well as adults interested in enhancing their resumes.

The course is aimed at those who wish to learn Spanish from scratch or deepen already acquired knowledge.

As there are different levels available, the selected participant can start the journey at the stage most suited to their own experience, without relying on specific prior training.

The training may also interest professionals who work or intend to work in companies with international relations, public service, tourism, education, technology, foreign trade, and other areas where Spanish appears as a competitive advantage.

This professional application is compatible with the program’s declared focus on employability.

Certificate and operation of Santander Open Academy

Santander Open Academy informs that its online courses are free and offer a certificate at the end, provided that the participant completes the training according to the rules of each program.

For courses with limited spots, the platform itself clarifies that the certification may be issued by the responsible academic partner.

In the case of Español Online 2026, the indicated partner is Open Mundo, responsible for Spanish training.

The official material confirms access to the free course, the six-month duration, the 1,000 spots, and classes with native teachers, in addition to monthly follow-up in private lessons.

The platform offers courses with direct access and programs with limited spots.

In courses with selection, registration does not automatically guarantee participation, as the candidate needs to compete for the spot under the conditions defined for each edition.

Santander claims to have maintained programs focused on education, employability, and entrepreneurship for 30 years.

According to the platform, more than 8.3 million people and companies have already been supported, with an investment of over 2.5 billion euros in initiatives in this area.

How to enroll in Santander’s free Spanish course

Those interested in Santander | Español Online 2026 should access the program’s page on Santander Open Academy, register on the platform, and follow the steps indicated to apply for a spot.
