Unique Opportunity for Professionals in the Field of Sciences: The Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) is open for registrations for a simplified selection process for tutors in the specialization course in Science Teaching, aimed at the final years of elementary school.

The position is for work in the Distance Education (EAD) format and offers the flexibility to work from home, with a workload of only 4 hours per day.

The Chance to Work as a Tutor in an Innovative and Collaborative Course

This opportunity is an excellent option for professionals with higher education and teaching experience in the field of sciences, who seek to expand their academic and pedagogical activities.

The specialization course, called “Science is 10!”, offers an innovative learning environment, where tutors play a fundamental role in supporting students, encouraging engagement, and mediating communication between students and teachers.

How to Apply for the Tutor Selection Process at UFRGS

According to the announcement published on April 24, 2025, the selection process for tutors at UFRGS is regulated by Portaria CAPES 309/2024.

The selected tutors will not have an employment relationship, but will receive a monthly scholarship of R$ 1,100.00 for a commitment of 20 hours per week.

The course, which focuses on the Specialization in Science Teaching for the final years of elementary school, will be offered in EAD format, with a planned duration of three semesters starting from the second semester of 2025.

Tutors will work at different UAB (Open University of Brazil) centers in Rio Grande do Sul, covering cities such as Porto Alegre, Gramado, Imbé, Santana do Livramento, and Passo Fundo.

The role requires an interdisciplinary approach, which includes organizing activities in the Virtual Learning Environment (AVA) and continuous monitoring of student learning.

The Ideal Candidate Profile and Requirements to Apply

UFRGS highlights that up to 7 immediate positions are being offered, with a reserve list.

Additionally, 25% of these positions are reserved for candidates from minority groups, according to current legislation.

To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Brazilian nationality or foreigner with permanent RNE.
  • Higher education in Licensure in Biology, Sciences, or related fields, recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC).
  • Postgraduate degree (ongoing or completed master’s or doctoral degree) in the field of sciences.
  • At least 1 year of experience in basic or higher education.
  • Ability to use digital tools and virtual learning environments.

It is worth noting that internships completed during graduation or postgraduate studies are not considered teaching experience for this selection process.

Deadlines and Details About the Selection of Tutors

Applications can be made exclusively via email, sending the necessary documentation to the electronic address ciencia10@ufrgs.br.

The application period runs from April 25 to May 12, 2025.

Candidates must submit the completed application form, along with supporting documentation of qualifications and experience, an updated Lattes curriculum, and a self-declaration of availability.

The selection process consists of two phases:

  1. Curriculum Analysis: With a maximum score of 10 points, this phase will evaluate the academic titles and professional experience of candidates, with the approval expected on June 2, 2025.
  2. Technical Interview: The second phase, also with a maximum score of 10 points, evaluates practical experience in the field of sciences, availability to act as a tutor, as well as knowledge about Distance Education (EaD) and the use of digital technologies. Interviews will take place between June 3 and June 6, 2025.
