Week Starts With Payments of the Gas Aid Worth R$ 108. Over 5 Million Families Receive the Benefit in August, Covering Part of the Cost of the Gas Cylinder.
The Gas Aid payments started this week and will continue until the end of August. The benefit of R$ 108 will be allocated to more than 5.13 million Brazilian families that meet the income criteria established by the government and are registered in the Unified Registry (CadÚnico).
The amount is calculated based on the average price of the 13 kg gas cylinder and corresponds to 50% of this cost, helping families reduce the impact of cooking gas on their monthly budget. The payment is made every two months and follows the Bolsa Família calendar.
Who Is Entitled to the Gas Aid Payments
To receive the benefit, it is necessary to be registered in CadÚnico and meet the low-income criteria defined by the federal government. Families that already participate in other social programs, such as Bolsa Família, are given priority.

Why Is the Gas Aid Important?
The Gas Aid aims to alleviate the pressure on low-income families, ensuring that the cost of the cooking gas cylinder does not compromise spending on food and other basic needs.
Although the price of gas has shown reduction in some regions of Brazil, it remains a significant expense for millions of families. Therefore, the aid is still considered essential support in combating the high cost of living.
The payments of the Gas Aid represent an immediate relief for millions of Brazilian households, but also highlight the need for more durable public policies to address the weight of basic expenses in the family budget.
What do you think, is the amount of R$ 108 from the Gas Aid sufficient to support Brazilian families or should it be increased? Leave your opinion in the comments — your experience can enrich the debate on this social benefit.
