New oil reserves in the Equatorial Margin, with a potential of up to 5,6 billion barrels, promise to double pre-salt production and guarantee Brazil's energy future. Discover how this discovery can transform the regional economy and ensure the country's energy security!

The discovery of a gigantic oil reserve in the Equatorial Margin could change Brazil's energy future. With potential for up to 5,6 billion barrels of oil, this new reserve is twice the size of the pre-salt, according to the renowned geophysicist and YouTuber Sergio Sacani.

In an interview with Irmãos Dias Podcast, Sérgio Sacani highlighted the strategic importance of this discovery, warning of a alarming scenario if new reserves are not explored. “Every oil field has a production curve, it peaks and then starts to fall,” he explained.

“The pre-salt will go into depression in 2027, if we don’t find anything and start producing we will be left with a hole, then the situation will get ugly, we will have to buy oil and the price could skyrocket”, he added during the conversation.

Sérgio Sacani gave a complete class on oil production in Brazil – IRMÃOS PODCAST

The Equatorial Margin reserves represent crucial hope for the future of Petrobras. The state-owned company has already designed an ambitious business plan for the period from 2024 to 2028, with investments of US$3,1 billion in the region.

These reserves are seen not only as the key to maintaining the level of oil production in the coming decades, but also as a fundamental pillar for the transition to a green economy and the country's energy security.

At the end of September, Ibama granted authorization for Petrobras to carry out research in two blocks in the Potiguar basin, and the state-owned company has already started drilling to confirm the reserves. However, these operations do not yet include block FZA-M-59, located in the Foz do Amazonas Basin, on the coast of Amapá, which is awaiting an environmental license.

Petrobras' internal studies suggest that this block could contain up to 5,6 billion barrels of oil, representing a significant increase of 37% in Brazilian reserves, currently estimated at 14,8 billion barrels.

Sérgio Sacani also highlighted the economic importance of the Equatorial Margin, mentioning the significant increases in GDP in French Guiana and Suriname due to oil. “French Guiana's GDP increased last year by 62% due to this oil, Suriname's by 40 percent. In front of the state of Amapá is this large Brazilian margin. The problem is that it is in front of the mouth of the Amazon River,” he said.

For him, The economic impact of this discovery cannot be underestimated. The strategic location of the Equatorial Margin, in front of the state of Amapá, brings challenges due to its proximity to the mouth of the Amazon River. However, successful exploitation of this reserve could transform the regional economy and guarantee Brazil's energy security in the coming decades.

Do you believe that this new discovery can really guarantee Brazil's energy security in the coming decades or do you think the country will let this opportunity pass by? Leave your opinion in the comments!

Brazilians need to stop with the utopia of working with a formal contract and be more entrepreneurial. The CLT takes 200 bucks per month from workers and returns 2 thousand reais upon retirement. If this amount is saved during the 35 years, the citizen will have 2,5 million in the bank.

The question is this: how does it impact the less privileged people? Isn't Petrobras' income already absurd considering that it is a product extracted from the land where we all live? The price of gasoline has never gone down since I can remember. What kind of Brazil is this? Where everyone lives here and there.
And the worst example comes from above.
Good morning everyone

In these complicated times we are currently living in, where the issue of hydrocarbon exploration is increasingly difficult due to environmental impacts and other problems arising from oil activities, it is necessary to prepare well to extract this oil from the mouth of the Amazon River. It cannot be stored away; it has to be extracted. All prospecting, exploration and extraction activities must be well supported by robust studies that allow things to be done with the commitment to protect the entire target area. In fact, this is a challenge, especially for Petrobras, since it would serve to guarantee Brazil's energy security in the coming decades. On the other hand, if exploration is successful, it will also benefit the regional economy, improving the living conditions of the citizens of the states of Amapá and Pará in particular.

We saw what happened with Bolsonaro, who literally burned everything for money. Let's see what will happen now.
The future is green energy. We have wind, rivers, sun, we have everything we need to make this energy transition happen, but it seems like we are 50 years behind everyone else. The discovery of these fossil fuels will only delay the transition even further. It's just an excuse they make. Don't fall for it.

Yes, it's true. People, when you make comments, be reasonable. We all know that energy should and MUST be a good that promotes investment for the Brazilian population. However, depending on the right and extreme right, everything will fall into the hands of private companies that will regulate prices in the clouds; at the same time, the employees of this company will pay slave wages and distribute the profits to their half a dozen shareholders (BILLIONS OF REAIS). So, pay attention to what you intend to choose. Energy, regardless of its origin (hydroelectric, oil, wind, solar, etc.) is ours, from Brazil, and therefore IT MUST BE ACCESSIBLE and the profits from these energies converted into investments here for the population (infrastructure, technology, education, health, security, etc.).

Look at China: it has several gigantic state-owned companies serving the common good managed by the State and FOR the State to have investment power. Of course, all of this with the necessary rigidity and seriousness to avoid corruption and misappropriation of funds.

Here's a tip for a healthy debate.

It would be good if the government was still in Bolsonaro's hands, as he is honest, he and his family would certainly have already sold this reserve to an Arab country for a few hundred jewels and everything would be fine for these **** people who do not know that the largest investment in oil research and production in Brazil was made in Lula's governments and we have no news that he received jewels in return, in fact he approved a law that divided among all the states the oil production fees for education, health and public safety, and prohibited foreign companies from having more than 21% of the exploration quota, that's why they carried out the coup against Dilma, to sell the exploration of the Pre-Salt.

They can get everything they want to put in people's minds, they do everything they can to destroy their "adversaries", political or not, and they count on these pawns, with cauterized minds that do not do the slightest research, in reliable sources, to have an idea, at least, closer to reality. They got hung up on the case of the jewelry theft, a big lie and with the strong support of these pawns. Did you see all this through Globo and its affiliates? Petrobras is not a genuinely state-owned company. It has foreign capital involved in it, which holds a considerable amount of shares. The government has a majority shareholding and that is where the danger lies. In the hands of a wrong ruler (which is the case of the current one), this company suffers the blows of corruption and political interests, and the government still argues because of the gigantic profits of foreign shareholders (he was one of the causes of this invasion of foreign capital in the company). Which investor would put money in a Brazilian company without aiming for profit? Only in the little **** head of a socialist; Petrobras has to be privatized. A country that respects itself and has statesmanlike rulers will not worry about oil production. That is the responsibility of the private sector, as developed countries do, which do not have state-owned oil companies. Everything is done by independent companies. The state only supervises, because its role is to take care of the education, health and safety of the people that constitute it.
