Shineray places Pernambuco at the center of a new industrial cycle with expansion in Suape, capacity increase, job openings, and installation of the first own emissions control laboratory in the Northeast to accelerate launches and reduce operational costs

Shineray announced an investment cycle of R$ 300 million in Brazil by 2030, with most of the funds directed to Pernambuco, where the automaker maintains its manufacturing operation in the Suape Industrial Complex, in Cabo de Santo Agostinho. The move includes the expansion of the factory, which will receive R$ 77 million, and the implementation of its own pollutant emissions control laboratory, a structure that represents an investment of R$ 200 million and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.

The plan draws attention for its size, the speed of the works, and the projected industrial impact. The Suape unit, inaugurated in 2015, is currently the only major motorcycle manufacturer outside the Manaus Free Trade Zone. With the expansion, the factory area will increase from 54,000 m² to 76,000 m², while the annual production capacity, currently at 180,000 units in just one shift, is expected to rise to 250,000. At the same time, the company is betting on technology, logistics, and market expansion to gain scale in the country.

What is behind Shineray’s new advance in Suape

Shineray is experiencing one of its most important expansion cycles since the inauguration of the factory in Suape in 2015. The investment occurs at a time of consistent growth in the two-wheeler market in Brazil and reinforces the company’s strategy to transform the Northeast into an industrial and technological hub for the sector.

The Brazilian operation of the brand is centralized in the Pernambuco complex, which serves the national market from Suape. According to the company, the goal of the expansion is to increase production and improve the logistics of distribution to hundreds of dealerships spread across the country.

The numbers that explain the size of the project

Shineray expands Suape factory in Pernambuco, accelerates motorcycle production, and builds emissions laboratory by 2027.

The plan includes figures and goals that help to size the projected leap by Shineray. The total investment announced for the Brazilian operation by 2030 is R$ 300 million. Within this package, R$ 77 million is being applied to the expansion of the Suape manufacturing park.

The unit area will grow from 54 thousand m² to 76 thousand m², in works that started in October 2024 and are expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The production capacity, which is currently 180 thousand units per year in one shift, is expected to reach 250 thousand units annually after the expansion.

The market numbers also help to understand the company’s moment. In 2025, the brand sold 180,912 products, up from 120,117 units sold in 2024. The company also claims to hold 6% of the national market and says that the short-term goal is to achieve a double-digit market share.

Why the emissions laboratory can change the game in the Northeast

In addition to the physical expansion of the factory, Shineray is establishing its own pollution emissions control laboratory in Suape. According to the company, this will be the first in the Northeast and represents an investment of R$ 200 million.

In practice, this laboratory should allow for faster analyses and environmental compliance certifications required for manufacturers. The expectation is to reduce bureaucracy, cut operational costs, and accelerate the launch of new models, as part of the inspections can be done within the factory’s own facilities.

Currently, this type of structure is restricted to locations such as Manaus and São Paulo, according to the company. With the new technological center, certification will no longer depend on lengthy processes in other states or even abroad. The laboratory is expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2027, within the same expansion area of Suape.

What changes in practice with the expansion of the Shineray factory

The expansion of the Pernambuco unit is expected to directly impact production, logistics, and the supply capacity of the commercial network. Shineray states that it wants to serve Brazil from Suape more efficiently, shortening internal processes and enhancing the response to growing demand.

This advancement may also make operations more competitive. With more space, increased production capacity, and its own laboratory, the company gains the ability to launch products more quickly and reduce some dependence on external structures for certifications and testing.

Jobs, qualification, and the direct effect of investment

The growth of Shineray in Suape is also expected to reflect in the job market. Currently, the company has about 600 employees, with approximately 300 in the factory. With the expansion, the forecast is to hire an additional 100 professionals.

The company emphasizes that part of this expansion will require technical qualification, especially for the laboratory. At the same time, it acknowledges difficulties in training labor in areas such as electrician, mechanic, and motorcycle assembler, which has made continuous training an important part of the operational routine.

Why Shineray invests so much in the Brazilian market

Shineray belongs to the Chinese group Shineray Group, headquartered in Chongqing, China. In Brazil, the brand is represented by Shineray do Brasil, a national capital company that holds the right to use the brand and assemble vehicles in the country.

The manufacturer is currently the third largest in Brazil by volume of registrations, behind only Honda and Yamaha, according to the data provided. The company already has 450 dealerships in the country and plans to open another 200 this year. It also estimates that the approximately 130,000 motorcycles of the brand in circulation in the Brazilian market could reach 600,000 by 2030.

What supports the growth of the two-wheeler sector

The company assesses that the two-wheeler market has been growing broadly in the country. Among the cited factors are the difficulties in public transportation, especially in rural cities, and the rise of deliveries by motorcycle.

Regionally, the Northeast remains the main consumer market for the brand, with notable emphasis on Pará. The company also points to a strong presence in São Paulo and significant growth in the Midwest, regions that are expected to receive more attention in the upcoming expansion cycles.

Innovation, broad portfolio, and investment in new technologies

Shineray claims to have more than 50 models in its portfolio, including tricycles, quadricycles, golf carts, electric bicycles, off-road vehicles, as well as electric and combustion motorcycles, with engine displacements ranging from 50 to 400, and in the future also 600 cc.

Prices range from R$ 9,000 to R$ 160,000, which broadens the brand’s reach to different consumer profiles, from urban workers to corporate clients. Among the next moves, the company highlights the preparation of flex motorcycles, mentioned as a response to regional demand and the relevance of ethanol.

What is at stake for Pernambuco and Suape

The plan of Shineray reinforces the importance of Suape as an industrial base outside the traditional motorcycle axis in Brazil. In a sector strongly associated with Manaus, the permanence and expansion of operations in Pernambuco gain economic and strategic relevance for the region.

At the same time, the company shows concern about possible changes related to tax reform and the reduction of tax incentives for the sector in the Northeast. Nevertheless, it reaffirms its commitment to Suape, where it maintains all its manufacturing and logistics operations.

The next steps of the plan until 2030

The agenda of Shineray already has defined milestones. The expansion works of the factory began in October 2024 and are expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The emissions control laboratory is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2027.

By 2030, the company aims to consolidate this new cycle with increased production, expansion of the dealership network, greater national presence, and growth of the vehicle base in circulation. The plan also targets market share gains and faster product launches.

With an expanded factory, a unique laboratory in the Northeast, and a goal to grow by 2030, do you believe that Shineray will be able to change the landscape of the motorcycle industry in Brazil?
