Shopee announced the expansion of its operations in Goiás after an agreement to streamline e-commerce. Learn how the new logistics plan will create 3,000 jobs.
The agility of Shopee‘s deliveries throughout Brazil has just received a strategic boost with the announcement of the company’s expansion in Goiás. Through a memorandum of understanding signed between the State Government and the e-commerce platform last Wednesday, 22/04, the state will consolidate its position as a vital link for goods distribution in the Midwest region.
The focus of the new operation is to strengthen the fulfillment system (storage and own logistics), allowing sellers’ products to reach Brazilian consumers faster.
Less bureaucracy to attract investments in Goiás
Governor Daniel Vilela signed a decree that simplifies the rules for digital commerce in Goiás, removing barriers that hindered new financial investments.

How much does it cost to live with dignity in Brazil? A study found that in all 79 regions analyzed, the necessary salary was above the minimum of R$ 1,621. In São Paulo, a family of four needs R$ 6,155 per month.
The main change makes state registration optional for out-of-state sellers using distribution centers in Goiás, which particularly relieves entrepreneurs under the Simples Nacional regime.
As explained by the governor, the goal is to modernize the tax system and make life easier for those who generate wealth in the state:
“The decree addresses the elimination of bureaucracies that prevented increased investments from this electronic market, mainly due to the multiplicity of suppliers that have a requirement, the state registration for each of these suppliers,” stated Daniel Vilela.
The measure also aims to simplify the processes of the Department of Economy. According to the head of the Executive, the intention is “that we can increasingly modernize our tax operations, simplify them so that the citizen, the taxpayer, has the least possible work.”
The impact of Shopee on job creation
Present in Goiás since 2024, the retail giant plans continuous growth for the coming years.
The official estimate is that the expansion of Shopee‘s structure will result in the creation of about 3,000 new jobs over half a decade. This movement is expected to benefit not only the transport sector but the entire network of local suppliers.

Daniel Vilela reinforced the social role of the initiative: “There is a chain of job creation through agencies and also suppliers who are encouraged to be able to undertake and produce in our state using these platforms,” he concluded.
Logistics strategy: why is Goiás fundamental?
For Shopee, the choice of Goiás as a pillar of its national logistics network is due to the state’s infrastructure and privileged location.
Luciana Hachmann, head of government relations at the company, highlighted that the Goiás unit was a pioneer in the company’s network: “Goiás was the first state to receive a distribution center, which demonstrates the importance of the state and the recognition of its logistics capacity.”
The expansion plan focuses on integrating the operation so that products circulate faster. The executive emphasized the company’s vision for the region:
“Our goal is to connect sellers and consumers throughout Brazil. The expansion in Goiás is strategic because we can integrate our logistics operation with the Midwest region,” justified Luciana Hachmann.
Additionally, she pointed out that logistical improvement is essential for final customer satisfaction.
“This distribution strategy is aligned with our national logistics improvement plan, so that deliveries quickly reach the consumer,” explained the representative.

Tax collection and oversight preserved
Despite the bureaucratic simplification, the changes in the decree will not harm the tax revenue of Goiás.
Since e-commerce sales are treated as interstate transactions, the state will continue to receive the ICMS Tax Rate Differential (Difal) as usual.
The tax sharing system and the monitoring mechanisms remain unchanged, ensuring that economic growth is accompanied by fiscal responsibility.
Therefore, the union between the platform’s technology and the modernization of public management places the state at the forefront of digital commerce.
By reducing costs for companies and facilitating the circulation of products, Goiás not only improves its competitiveness but also ensures that the shopping experience for platform users is increasingly agile and efficient.
