São Paulo minimum wage rises to R$ 1,874.36 after state government sanction, with a nominal increase of 46% since 2022 and limited reach to categories without a floor defined by federal law, convention, or collective labor agreement.
The São Paulo minimum wage was adjusted to R$ 1,874.36 this Thursday (28), after sanction by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, in a measure that reaches categories without a floor defined by federal law or collective bargaining.
Adjustment widens difference over the national minimum
With the new law, the São Paulo minimum wage is 15.6% above the national floor, currently at R$ 1,621. The difference of R$ 253 reinforces the reach of the state policy of income protection.

The new value represents a nominal increase of 46% in four years. In 2022, the minimum wage paid in São Paulo was R$ 1,284. In the same period, the national minimum wage accumulated a nominal increase of 33.7%.

São Paulo minimum wage surpasses inflation
The adjustment also exceeded the National Consumer Price Index, the INPC, which accumulated 19.5% in the interval. The comparison shows that the São Paulo minimum wage advanced more than the indicator used to measure inflation.
The law comes into effect on the first day of the month following its publication. Until then, the previous value remains as a reference for the categories covered by the state legislation.
Who can benefit from the new rule
The floor applies to workers who do not have a professional minimum wage established by federal legislation, convention, or collective agreement. The list includes domestic workers, caregivers for the elderly and people with disabilities, laborers, general service assistants, and agricultural workers.
Also included among the covered activities are salespeople, waiters, delivery riders, bricklayers, plumbers, painters, telemarketing operators, and cleaning and maintenance professionals.
