Halcium, an innovative American startup located in Salt Lake City, is in the testing phase of a project that promises to transform the generation of renewable energy for homes: the mini wind turbine called PowerPod.

This equipment has been specifically designed for urban environments, offering a viable and accessible alternative to traditional solar panels, according to ciclovivo’s website.

Advantages Of The PowerPod Mini Wind Turbine

The PowerPod has a lower cost than solar panels and is more efficient in areas with less than 300 days of sun per year.

With a capacity of 1 kW, the mini wind turbine can generate up to three times more energy than conventional turbines.

This additional power is due to its advanced blade system in the chainstay, which increases wind speed by 40%.

Another positive point is that, since it has no external moving parts, the equipment is safe for children, pets, and even birds, making it ideal for urban environments.

The airflow is collected on the outside of the sheath and concentrated into a circular blade, which is completely contained within the device.

This unique design allows the turbine to receive wind from any direction, unlike traditional wind turbines that rely on a specific direction to function properly.

This eliminates the need for installation on tall poles, reducing costs on support structures and long cables.

An interesting feature of the PowerPod is the possibility of being connected to solar systems, creating a diverse source of wind and solar energy.
