Free USP course addresses cyber attacks and digital protection
Divided into two modules, the course program will begin with an analysis of the current cybersecurity landscape and the most frequent risks faced by companies and users in the digital environment.
The first class will present an overview of current cybersecurity and the main risks faced by companies and users in the digital environment.
Participants will encounter content related to the global growth of cyber attacks, including recent cases of data breaches and virtual scams.
The material will also cover social engineering practices, phishing techniques, and the impacts of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) on organizations.
Additionally, fundamental concepts in the area will be presented, such as the difference between information security and cybersecurity, the CIA triad — confidentiality, integrity, and availability — and notions of vulnerability, threat, and risk.
Another point covered in the training involves explaining the steps used by digital criminals during virtual attacks.
The proposal includes conceptual demonstrations of malware, ransomware, brute-force attacks, and exploitation of security flaws.
Still in the first stage, students will have access to practical guidance on creating secure passwords, multifactor authentication, Wi-Fi network protection, and cloud service security.
Cybersecurity areas of expertise highlighted in training
Focused on professional areas of cybersecurity, the second module will show how teams responsible for defense, monitoring, and response to digital incidents within companies operate.
USP intends to show students how teams responsible for defending and monitoring digital environments within companies work.
Among the planned topics are Blue Team, Red Team, SOC (Security Operations Center), Pentest, Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), cloud security, and application protection.
The course will also explain how organizations structure their security teams, including strategic roles such as CISO, responsible for information security governance.
Widely used frameworks in the market, such as ISO 27001 and NIST, are also part of the program content.
According to the institution, the objective is to offer an introductory vision of security maturity and best practices adopted by public and private companies.
Cybersecurity market remains strong in Brazil
Driven by the increase in digital attacks and the expansion of online services, the cybersecurity area remains among the most promising and in-demand sectors of technology in Brazil.
The growth of digital attacks and the increase in service digitalization have expanded the demand for professionals specialized in data and infrastructure protection.
During the training, participants will receive information about the profiles most sought after by the market, as well as details about certifications considered important for those wishing to enter the field, such as Security+ and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
The training will also address behavioral competencies required by companies, including analytical reasoning, communication, and incident response capability.
The training is aimed at students of Systems Analysis and Development, Information Systems, Engineering, and Computer Science, as well as analysts, developers, infrastructure professionals, managers, and individuals interested in migrating to the digital security area.
Even candidates without prior experience can participate in the course.
