New generation developed with artificial intelligence accelerates charging to unprecedented levels, expands autonomy and puts Brazil among the first markets to receive innovation

The automotive industry has just reached a new historic milestone. This information was disclosed by recent industry reports and reinforced by announcements from BYD itself, which presented a technology capable of completely transforming the way electric vehicles are used in daily life.

The Chinese manufacturer launched the second generation of the Blade battery, bringing impressive advances in autonomy and charging time. Additionally, the innovation uses artificial intelligence to optimize processes at the molecular level, something unprecedented in the mass production of batteries.

As a result, the new technology promises to eliminate one of the main obstacles of electric vehicles: charging time.

Charging in 5 minutes and autonomy over 1,000 km

The new Blade battery allows for extremely fast charging. According to BYD, the charging time from 10% to 70% is only five minutes. Furthermore, the battery can reach 97% charge in just nine minutes.

This performance represents a new world record for charging speed. To achieve this result, the brand developed the Flash charger, which operates with a power of up to 1,500 kW per connector.

In practice, this means that the vehicle can recover about 500 km of autonomy in just five minutes. In other words, a time very close to that of refueling combustion cars.

Additionally, the new battery was installed in a Denza Z9 GT model, which achieved an impressive 1,036 kilometers of autonomy, according to data from the manufacturer itself.

Another relevant point is that energy density increased by 5% compared to the first generation. This gain directly contributes to improving performance and reducing charging time.

Artificial intelligence changes the way batteries are developed

One of the most revolutionary aspects of this technology involves the use of artificial intelligence. BYD used AI to optimize the battery electrolyte at the molecular level, improving lithium ion conduction.

This advancement allows energy to circulate more quickly within the battery, significantly reducing charging time.

Furthermore, the company developed a high-speed channel for lithium ions and implemented an intelligent thermal management system. This system reduces internal heat and improves thermal dissipation.

Consequently, the battery maintains high performance even under extreme conditions. At temperatures of up to -30ºC, for example, charging from 20% to 97% occurs in about 12 minutes using the Flash charger.

Therefore, in addition to speed, the technology also ensures efficiency and safety in different scenarios.

Charging infrastructure will be decisive in the global market

The advancement of the battery is also directly linked to the expansion of charging infrastructure. The BYD has already begun installing stations with this new technology.

Currently, China has 4,239 charging points of this type. Additionally, the company plans to reach 20,000 units by the end of 2026.

The Flash charger stands out not only for its power of 1,500 kW but also for its innovative design. It has a T-shape and features the Zero Gravity system, which allows the connector to be positioned on any side of the vehicle without the cable touching the ground.

Another important differentiator is the use of high-capacity energy storage systems. This solution helps to avoid overload on the electrical grid and ensures a stable energy supply.

Meanwhile, global expansion is already in the manufacturer’s plans. Although BYD has not yet confirmed the first countries to receive the technology, Brazil emerges as a strong candidate.

This is because the country is already BYD’s largest export market outside of China. Additionally, the growth of electric vehicle sales in Brazil reinforces this possibility.

Do you think this technology can finally eliminate the concern about the autonomy of electric cars?

I've been working with technology for over 13 years with a single goal: helping companies grow by using the right technology. I write about artificial intelligence and innovation applied to the energy sector — translating complex technology into practical decisions for those in the middle of the business.
