One of the most sold cars in Brazil over the years deserves to be highlighted. The Volkswagen Gol, despite being out of production, can still be found as an almost new model, manufactured in 2023, for less than R$ 80,000.
On e-commerce sites, there are listings for the version equipped with a 1.0 MPI Flex engine and a 5-speed manual transmission with prices ranging between R$ 73,000 and R$ 78,100 — prices considerably higher than those in the Fipe Table.

With this amount and by conducting detailed research on specialized sites, it is possible to find the South Korean model in the Sense, Comfort, or Limited versions, with a naturally aspirated 1.0 engine, or the Comfort with a turbo engine, all with manual transmission. Prices range between R$ 69,000 and R$ 78,700.
The direct competitor of the Chevrolet Onix, the Volkswagen Polo, is also among the best hatches to buy for up to R$ 80,000. However, like GM’s car, the model available in this price range is not new but rather a used one from the year/model 2023.
On major e-commerce sites, the Polo Track, the simpler version of the “Novo Gol”, has prices ranging between R$ 76,900 and R$ 79,900. The vehicle has a 1.0 three-cylinder engine capable of delivering up to 84hp of power and 10.3 kgf/m of torque, but **leaves much to be desired** in terms of available accessories.
The Chevrolet Onix as an Affordable Option for a Used Car
The price, however, is even lower than that of its sibling and, with a R$ 2,000 discount offered by the brand, it is being sold for R$ 67,900.
One of the most sold compact cars in Brazil could not be left out of the list of the top 10 to acquire for up to R$ 80,000, right? Even though it isn’t new, the Chevrolet Onix we chose is considered “almost new” or, as the market tends to say, used.
With this budget, it is feasible to acquire the GM vehicle in its LT version, equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.0 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission for R$ 79,400. If you’re willing to spend a little more, it’s possible to buy the model with a turbo engine, which has offers for up to R$ 80,200.
The 208 Like features a naturally aspirated 1.0-liter engine with 75 horsepower and 10.7 kgf/m of torque, a 5-speed manual transmission, digital air conditioning, hill start assist, and power windows for the front seat occupants.
The fourth and final 0km hatch for less than R$ 80,000 is the Citroën C3, which belongs to the same group as the 208. The Live version of the C3 features the 1.0 Firefly engine with 75hp and 10.7 kgf/m of torque, a 5-speed manual transmission, and the same accessories as the Peugeot model. Both vehicles offer similar performance and features, rounding out the offering of new cars in this price range.
If you are interested in the French compact and have a price range of R$ 71,100 to R$ 76,900, just visit a dealership and make your choice. The third place among the 10 best hatches to acquire for up to R$ 80,000 is also new and comes from France as well. We are referring to the Peugeot 208, in its entry-level version, the Like, which has had its price reduced and now costs R$ 75,900.
The economical Italian vehicle recently saw a price drop of R$ 6,000, making it the most affordable car in Brazil in its entry-level version, the Like, equipped with a 1.0 Fire engine and 5-speed manual transmission. Interested? Now it can be yours for R$ 63,900. The Trekking version, a bit more complete, is also within the budget and is available for R$ 73,500.
The Renault Kwid has lost its position as the cheapest car in Brazil to its Italian competitor; however, as compensation, all its four versions — Zen, Intense, Intense Pack Biton, and Outsider — are priced below R$ 80,000.
